because i have been told by two other dudes that the system was changed recently to NOT ACCEPT any pro-rata billing. they are enforcing plan change only at the end of billing cycle because of massive complaints related to pro-rata billing in the past. i had a long talk with another dude in AP team who said it repeatedly... i cannot do it even if i wanted to. that's when i had decided to apply for a new connection. now they are creating this confusion. would i get a faster plan change? was this just a joke? i guess i would wait for a couple of days before applying for a new connection. it's a total mess. i had also applied to migrate my old iptv plan to this place. there has been no progress on that too. 😀 i am not sure what exactly i am doing. i am probably just losing it because i would soon find myself being redirected to the YOU HAVE BEEN FUPED page on airtel website.

So plan change confirmation call was for what? That plan has been changed or just that plan change REQUEST has been confirmed?

the call was the confirmation for the request i filed. the plan was/is supposed to be changed only at the end of the billing cycle (aug 5). i am still not sure how i was promised pro-rata billing on this call.

Ah, ok. Why not take BSNL for a month till airtel plan changes? Then in future u can use BSNL line as a standby line.

haha. my locality is pretty much dominated by airtel landline and broadband connections. bsnl should have their wiring around here. but i have never and would not touch them from a distance. seriously want to avoid dealing with sarkari folks. it is part of my work profile to post about my interactions with airtel guys 😀 bsnl? there would be nothing interesting to post.

You're in a mess. You're dealing with 3 connections at the same time. 1 migration, 1 tariff plan migration and 1 new connection - all at the same location, I guess. Damn. :O

got another call in the afternoon. i was told that the system upgrades are going on. and they would not be able to migrate my connection before 20th of this month. 20th. i was sleeping so could not argue at that time. if they did not change the plan on my 3GB Alpha connection, i would be stuck with 256kbps for a long time.

their systems are down from 9th to 19th July for "technical reasons"

Also, it seems like there was an internal strike or something.. I paid the installation fee of Rs 1750 for BB+IPTV on the 1st, the person who took my cheque is refusing to take my calls ( Each time I tried from a different number, he took it once and said installation will be done in 2 hrs, then cut the call)
4444555 is confused, 1st they say it will be done in 24 hrs, then they say it will be done by 15 July, sometimes they say that BB+IPTV is rejected, but Landline will be installed!! (this home had a BB connection 6yrs back, but was disconnected as I had shifted out)
Sometimes they say delay due to technical issue, sometimes they say 15 days is standard time, sometimes they say there was a technicians strike... may end up having to go for BSNL BB + Tata Sky instead.

My last conversation with them was:

Me: (acting as a new customer)How many days does it take to get a new connection
Them: 5 days after filling form
Me:OK, CAF No. is XXXXXXXXX , its been 5 days, why is it not installed yet
Them: Sir, there was a technical issue, I will take a complaint and it will be resolved by 15 July

(I guess it makes sense to them, resolving a complaint related to delay in 10 days)
