Using Personal WiFi router with Tikona

Pratulujjwal, It would be nice if you could share the details you used to configure your wireless router with your tikona broadband connection to help other who fall prey to Tikona cheaters. Though I dont need the details as I have already cancelled my connection, it would be better for others to know. To All, Just a feedback on Tikona, The internet browsing on Tikona sucks... the government should not issue licenses to such idiots... the worst service I have ever received from any customer care.

Hi,
I've recently taken Tikona Wibro connection wherin they put up some equipment on my terrace and provided a lan cable to connect to my laptop.
At the time of installation the engineer had said it is possible to use your personal Wifi router. Just call the customer care and they'll send some engineer to do the settings.

But when i called the customer care they said that it was possible to use personal router but even though you want to use your personal router you'll have to pay the tikona fees of rs 75 per month or 1500 one time. These are the charges which they take if you take the wifi router from them. I found that strange so i wrote to their nodal officer asking him the logic of charging me for using my own wifi router. Next day i got a call from some technical guy from tikona saying that using personal Wifi router is not possible with tikona as they use dynamic IP. So if i want to use Wifi i'll have to take their Equipment.

What i want to know is
a) Is using personal wifi router possible ( I have edimax br-6204wlg Router)?
b) if possible, what are the settings needed?

you can use dear wat you to do is simply reset the router and plug tikona cable to one of those lan port and wait for ip onceit got ip means you can access

Sir I am also using Tikona and using ASUS RT N 10 LX but i am not able to connect to my internet. Please describe steps how to configure the wireless.

@ suneetnarwal: buddy i checked the manual of your router
01. Power off the router and tikona modem.
02. Unplug all NETWORK connections and cables from coputer, modem and router.
03. Wait for atleast 2 minutes. This should drain the IP / ID from the modem and the router.
04. Delete all the network connection from network and sharing center.
05. Plug the POWER cable of the router and modem. Wait for the lights to settle down (Stop Flashing)
06. Using the network cable, connect your computer to your wireless router’s LAN port.
07. Using another network cable, connect your modem to your wireless router’s WAN port.
08. Ensure that the WAN and LAN LEDs are blinking.
09. Launch your web browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox.
10. Follow the Quick Internet Setup (QIS) steps.

If your wireless router’s web GUI does not launch, key in http://192.168.1.1 in your web browser, and log in using the default username: admin and password: admin.

Hope this helps. if it does not please reply with the steps that you followed and the error that you get 🙂

never go for long time connection with Tikona as their services are not that great. Moreover once you have paid huge amount of money you will have to chase these geeks for your money. And sometimes some freak from customer care will tell you that it will take 30 days to disconnect the connection. (it is happening to me rite now.) Hope this saves nines (i could not stitch in time, MY BAD)Regards

So, You have decided to share your bitter experience on each Tikona thread.

06. Using the network cable, connect your computer to your wireless router’s LAN port.
07. Using another network cable, connect your modem to your wireless router’s WAN port.

Adding on here:

Cable from Tikona Modem/Ruckus should be inserted in the Blue port. Cables to Desktops, etc can go from the yellow ones.

Hello skdMrk
I have tikona internet connection.Which wifi router is compatible with tikona modem?
I have option of Belkin & D-Link.Please help!!

It is compatible with both Belkin and D-link, as well as Netlinx.

I use a Belkin N150 at home and it works seamlessly. No configuration required except the SSID and security setups at your end.
