Is Sify blocking Download Managers?

Since last few days I have noticed that none of the download managers can download any file... All end up giving the error:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.[/b]

Now, the file exist coz I can download them using my browser... And today when I tried to download SP2 through 3 different download managers with 5 different working links... I am getting pretty sure, it is sify at work.

used M@$$ Downloader 2.6.398 to download an .AVI file. works fine....
but m@$$ downloader identifies itself as IE 5.5 to the host...... maybe thats why it worked? pata nahin shayad...... thats the reason. i guess all downloaders identify themselves similarly.... I know that flashget does this "HTTP agent" identification too.
I access sify from noida.
has this started happenin since u installed the new broadband client? i havent installed or downloaded the client yet, still using web-login.

hey.. no it can't be the broadband client.. i just downloaded it and my download manager works fine.. must be something else.. are you sure that you haven't changed your firewall settings or something? (you are using a firewall aren't you because i get a lot of attacks from ips originating from the sify network

well, i tried 3 different download managers all identifying themselves as some or the other version of IE... and none of them worked. no its not my firewall as i had disabled it coz it was causing some issues. and yes i know abt the problems that can occur due to not using firewall coz i have been a victim of a hack attack. and well good thing to hear this forum helped someone... and ok, i will pin the post making it clear that calling customer care will help you out of the antivirus crap! 😀

hmm brand new day and the problem seems to be fix at the moment.

GetRight works for meFlashget doesnt anymore...Getright is a bit more messier then FG imho,.. too bad. but ill survive with GetRight

flashget never worked for me on this machine... i use getright and leechget.
