What device should i connect to my modem to create a wifi hotspot ?

I'v got an er.. non wifi modem( i dunno if its called that way .. pardon me if i'm wrong :waiting🙂 ... anyway ... i'd like to have wifi connectivity at my home ... what can i do ? can i connect a router or something to my modem ? what other device should i use ?

get a WiFi access point it will connect to ur modem and make it Wifi 😀 :Boy Yahoo: ......if u don't wanna buy WiFi router....

You can use a WiFi router (many good brands like Netgear, Linksys etc available) and connect it to your modem. By that way you can use your WiFi devices wirelessly.

If you have a tight budget, get Connectify ( Connectify for Windows - Turn your Laptop or Smartphone into a Secure Wi-Fi Hotspot ) and use a USB WiFi adapter (costs around Rs.900). Please note that you need Windows 7 Home Premium or above to use Connectify.

If you are a BSNL user, you can get a WiFi modem plus router for Rs. 80 per month rent or Rs. 1,800 outright purchase.

If u have a Laptop u can make it into a wifi hotspot using connectify but if u have a desktop then srry u will have to buy a Wifi Modem... You did not mention which connection u were on... Normally ur service provider with provider u with a wifi modem on rent if u want... Like BSNL or MTNL who charge u around Rs 80-100/mo for a wifi modem... For ur purpose I feel is the best way to go...

Thanx a lot people... 🙂 And therz somethng else you can help me with ....What I'v got a bsnl broadband connection with a wired modem ( which i purchased from bsnl ) .. so now if i want a wireless modem , can i exchange my present modem and pay the extra money involved ? Is that enough ?Or do i have to pay the complete amount (1800 rs or smthng) to get it ?And btw ... how much does wifi routers cost ? i really am not looking for maniacal techno kinda stuff .. all i need is a wifi connection for my phone for downloading apps and stuff. I'm not going to spend much on this.. Hoping for some solution staying below 1k...

Actually u can buy a wifi modem from bsnl for Rs 1325/- or something like that & not 1800... But my personal recommendation would be not to buy it instead rent it from bsnl for Rs 100 per month... That way if it breaks down they will replace it... Bsnl wifi modem is cheap but not of very good quality so it's better to rent it rather than buy it...
