hi guys,i posted a thread in the broadband in india forum but not many people cared to answer,so after being fupd(10gb fup limit on 512 kbps costing rs.1100 with taxes) by airtel i have decided to switch over to spectranet and i'd like to ask a few questions:1. is spectranet available in south delhi?2.i do not use a cable tv connection but have a dth one so is this somehow a factor in getting a plan?3.what are the total installation costs?4.are there any maintenance charges?5.what would be my total bill including the maintenance charges and taxes if i go for this plan?6.what is the average speed on torrents?7.is the fair usage policy for this plan really limited at 70gb per month?8.how good is the video streaming?9.if i go for the 1mbps wireless plan how much of a speed difference will there be compared to the wired one?any help would be appreciated

hmmm......first of all u r being looted heavily by airtel...... i m paying Bsnl rs. 550(including taxes) for nearly same plan(6GB-512kbps then,256kbps.....though I end up using 7-9 Gb most of the months till the time they throttle my conn..:wink🙂Anyways answers to most of ur queries....1. Yes, Spectranet is available in South Delhi, at most places through local ISP/cablewala if I'm not wrong. In the end, it will depend on ur specific location in S.Delhi whether there it is or not !2. This is not a factor for what you need.😕3. It depends on whether spectranet directly gives u a connection or a cablewala provides it in ur locality. Usually it varies with person to person. Some may take 500rs. as installation charges, some may offer it for free.4. Again if through spectranet, then i guess no, if otherwise then Maintaince charges are sometimes included in plans, like a 600rs. plan will be offered for 650-675rs. or so. Sometimes it may be lesser then the actual plan by spectranet.5. It should be somewhere in the range of rs. 1100(inc. taxes).6. As far i know torrents are not being throttled, some of friends still using in south delhi tells so.7. In my case it was offered through cablewala & he provided pure unlimited 512 kbps throughout the month(though Spectranet has 40 Gb FUP).8. Video Streaming was fine, though sometime in eveing hours speed used to hover Up & down a bit. But latency were amazing(atleast at my place, I always had a 5-10 ms latency to Speedtest Delhi servers), all in all really good latencies comparable or better to airtel/reliance.9. At any point of time prefer a wired one, as wireless has too many factors that can spoil ur experience even if u have a decent high speed plan. First of all latencies will be high, Signal strength and other questions will rise up. My suggestion prefer cable service anytime & if the same is not available then only think about Wireless option.I hope it would have answered some of ur queries ! Ask more if u still have further doubts.

^^ on their website it says 70gb fair usage policy for the 1mbps plan,i wanted to know if that is actually implemented too coz airtel says 10gb fup limit on my plan but my connection speed for the past 4 months is halved at about 5gb or so

All unlimited plans are governed by Fair Usage Policy.

Internet is being provided by Local cable waala's so they are not applying FUP.

is spectranet dependable for gaming??? i mean how are the pings and upload speed???

Spectranet is providing Via Local Cable operators and these ppl are not putting fair usage policy!

Donthave, Gets speeds up to 2mbps for 999Pm! He is from banglore and installation charges are 500 INR

Not all cablewala's are so kind hearted !

u can ask for a demo (as most of them provides) to see how its at ur particular place. As its provided mostly by cablewala's it largely depend upon how good their local wiring/cables are. In my experience the pings were really good & upload speeds were also okay.
