Yes, K.O. stages in WC isn't a good idea. That way even an inconsistent team can reach the finals, or the consistent team can be knocked in in Q/F's itself !This works well in Football, because there are large number of competitive teams. But in Cricket only the top 4 teams deserve to win the title.

In fact for football also, i would say in SF & Finals, they should have best of 3, so that "Matka" victories are avoided.......Dont have much info/knowledge about which team is good or bad in Football, but all i remember is people were getting shocked at few teams getting eliminated. But the more the games, the more time it takes for completion - and in cricket, it runs into days!! Sadly we have to contend with such results!!

finally we won the match .. this match again shows that we are not good at chasing the score ..and weakness in our middle order pathan had good chance of proving him self but fails ...

The game against Ireland was tough - yesterday, they made it tough by showing over-confidence & getting extra-complacent. They thought as if they were playing against a school team & would finish off the target inside 20 overs.......that kind of approach led to downfall - and so we can be sure that this wont be repeated against bigger oppositions.Or, i would say, we can hope for that!!

so if we win sat match against SA .. we will end up top on the chart and in group a after winning todays match SL will be on top position and we can always expect Aus to bounce back to be in top 3 .. so if pak end up 4th we can see them in QF ...

I was shocked when I got to know that Morgan was not part of the Eng WC team.

A lot will depend on SL-NZ match, a win for NZ would mean Pak finishing 3rd....If WI win their remaining matches - Eng,Ind,Ire ---- (Does not sound impossible, right), they will finish on top, despite us beating SA.So, I guess, still too many combinations for us to guess the QF setupBut from an Indian perspective, If Ireland & Bangladesh both loose on Friday (or both win on Friday) ... India will be through to QF on Friday (without worrying about remaining 2 league games)

Zim is the only team troubling a bit (that too due to some decent spin bowling at the top - price, utseya & co) ... and Aus struggled a bit against them...

I mean among minnows in Group A

I would say they lost Sachin/Sehwag due to complacency & the remaining 3 was some good bowling by the Dutch

I didn't like Dhoni experimenting with the batting lineup.I was amazed to see such a responsible innings from Yuvraj, he was so patient.Good to see he is back in form as he has been India's prolific match winner [particularly while chasing] during the 2005-2008 period.I am sure if the batting order is not disturbed the batsmen will do well in the upcoming games.Though bowling department is still a worry. Nehra should have been given more number of overs as he is a brighter aspect than Munaf.Anyday, I would prefer Nehra over Munaf in the current Indian lineup.

^^ India has already booked a spot in the quarters I guess.
I heard that in some news channel.

Victory over S.A will ensure India tops the group.
And looking at S.A's performance against England I am expecting India to win against S.A.

U can say that u didnt like experimenting after the experiment failed. And what kind of experiment?? Giving his lower order batsman, some sort of batting practice......whats wrong in preparing ur lower order batsmen??Another thing is, whenever Yusuf ends up getting out cheaply at no.7, people say, that he shud have been sent up the order.....this time he was sent up the order.Only thing that went wrong was Yusuf didnt capitalise on his opportunity......

Exactly, i forgot that altogether!!But then, we remember that Zim batting cudnt take any good advantage of that position!! Lucky Aussies......

Well, unlikely scenarios - but see below (hypothesis only --- so pls dont say not possible etc) Scenario 1----------Ban beats Eng, SA, NethWI beat Ire, IndEng beat WISA beat Ire, IndScenario 2----------Ire beats WI, SA, NethSA beats Ind, BanWI beats Eng,IndEng beats BanBan beats NethThe points table accounting both scenarios is nowIre/Ban - 8WI - 8SA - 8Eng - 7Ind - 7India are better in NRR, but they may loose their last two games badly & Eng win their 1 game comfortably.... Ind may miss out=================================And about Ind topping , I have already mentionedIf WI win their remaining matches - Eng,Ind,Ire ---- (Does not sound impossible, right), they will finish on top, despite us beating SA.
