from the charts... vodafone won. tata docomo turned out to be a phuss. abhishek bachchan's get idea campaign apparently worked! reliance of course got what they deserve.

What's more shocking Airtel still gained 5.3 lac subscribers :ishock:

lol, I don't understand why people go for idea, stupid plans, they charge around 50 Rs. for 400 SMS.:ashamed:

well for someone who had avoided airtel for a very long time... i can safely say that you think airtel to be a safe bet if you are troubled by your existing service provider. i switched to it primary because of their 98 rupee edge plan that works pretty nicely.

vodafone is shocking indeed. their packages are not very competitive. their customer support is no longer the best in the market. and well their edge plans sucked till recently. and of course, their marketing campaign makes sense only to the intellectual types!

i have met very few people in the last couple of years who are on idea. i seriously do not know who uses idea around here.

incidentally, my wife uses it because her's a corporate connection. and her company is in fact in the process of porting to vodafone for their entire user base.

Probably becuase Idea have decent indoor network even in villages/towns where Airtel, Vodafone networks fluctuates with 3-4 bars.

too bad we would never find out how many of these people switched because of data plans. 3G plans from different operators would make some difference in the coming months.

I am one of the subscribers who is willing to pay extra, provided the quality of services should be at par. That's why I opted for VMC299 GPRS plan which gives 2GB, which i think is a lot as far as a GPRS plans are concerned. But the stability of GPRS connection and a constant speed of around 80Kbps is very good.

here lies the bigger problem. ever since vodafone launched cheap edge plans, a lot of people are switching over to their network. that is probably going to start showing its result in a couple of month's time. just like what we saw with BSNL 3G after their 4200 for six months unlimited plan launch.

Thats very true. But still their GPRS/EDGE plans are not one of the lowest. So I don't think it would affect their network much like the others having Rs.98 GPRS plan. Let's wait and watch....

Primary reason for people shifting to Vodafone is Seamless Network Coverage and Zero Call drops - IMHO

+1.. Absolutely THE BEST network in NCR at least! Works with full signal bloody everywhere! Also, their EDGE speeds are awesome! ~200kbps most of the times!

Sushubh: Switch to Voda 😀

my airtel number is not yet six months old 🙂

Is it? It seems u r waiting for the six months to complete to port to some other operator :imwink:

heh. i got the new number after waiting for like 6 months to switch from aircel to airtel. i liked the number i had on aircel. 🙁 anyways. in the coming months thing should get more clear on the 3G pricing. then i would decide.

Couldn't agree more 🙂
Staying with Vodafone from Hutch!! That's close to 5+ years already, I still don't remember myself losing a network coverage or a call drop +1

Maybe its because of the Hutch's dog, it follows wherever I go - haha!:
