Review of Spectranet wired BB

I had taken this connection early feb after getting FUPed by Airtel. Initially had contacted all the BB vendors but realised that my local cable operator is providing BB from Spectranet. I had also called spectranet but never got a callback from them till now :OAnyways the cable operator mentioned the plans which were a bit different from the details mentioned in the spectranet site but I was skeptical and asked him for a day of demo. After initial hesitation (many people just used up demo, never took the connection) he went ahead and gave a cable connection to my desktop with one day of demo. The process took just 10 minutes!The plans I was offered were 512 kbps unlimited @699 and 1 mbps+ unlimited @ 999 all inclusive. I confirmed from them many a times and he was adamant that indeed there was no FUP. I went ahead with the 1 mbps+ plan, confirmed it after a day of demo and paid him by cheque.The overall speed is really good and some one who has comeback from 4 years of airtel I never found any issues with the speed at all and the service was good. generally the speed in torrents will be around 150 KBPS and around 220 KBPS if it is an english movie. IDM gives me a good speed of around 230 KBPS. Youtube speeds are generally good but sometimes it struggles for videos in 360p. Streaming is not as good as download speeds but u wont find issues watching 360p videos. The turnaround for this as given by iChaitanya is to use Airtel DNS servers which I never used as I was satisfied with the speeds.I expected downtime only twice in almost 1 month of usage. Both the times the cable operator office responded well and was done within the timeframe mentioned. Once it was 2 hrs and 10 mins the other time.The biggest question was regarding the FUP. Unfortunately as I am generally out of city for 5-6 days a month and at office during day times coupled with no hard disk space I did not download much to check it. I downloaded only around 40 GB+till now so cant tell what is the exact FUP. I am very satisfied with speeds and definitely happy to leave Airtel which had set FUP of 50 GB for me then decreased it to 15 GB suddenly for a plan costing me 1212 rupees (incl taxes)

you said you are on 1Mbps plan right how come you are getting 230KBps(1.7+ Mbps) ?IS it 1/2 Mbps day & night ?

It is 1mbps+ plan, weird that there is no such plan on Spectranet site but the cable operator is providing that.Its more of 2 mbps but speed hovers around 160 KBPS sometimes.

Hey Donthave, I've Got bit of info from local cable waala's over here. He says he also buys from Spectranet but that idiot is giving 2mbps for 950 PM. He says absolutely no Fup. I am worried about the net connectivity as this guys have been failing in delivering good service from years! 🙁

Take a demo once and u need to take chance. In my case it was cheaper than my existing airtel plan plus I always had the backup of Airtel 3G thru mobile. If the cable operator is good, the service will be good. Spectranet speeds are as promised, no doubt in that

and you might have notice my posts in other threads the same (broadband company which is limited to few areas offers) which i was talking about before:512kbit/s - 400 INR1mbit/s - 650 INR1.5mbit/s - 820 INR2mbit/s for 950 INR.he says UNLIMITED BB WITHOUT Fair Usage Policy. I doubt if it was really from Spectranet!

do a speedtest, the ISP will be displayed in that like the one I have!

Speed was minimum 1.5 to max of 2mbps in all the speed tests.

guys i am using Spectranet wired BB in bangalore.i have got plan 1 mbps @999 plus taxes.and i am happy :wewin: with decision of moving from craptel 😡 to spectranet .fully satisfied with speeds and no FUP(its 80 GB equls to no if u dont have any work than dwnloding in life :hysterical🙂
till now i faced no downtime .

its time to think beyond airtel !!!! 😀
