I just checked out some files in the Sify Broadband Client Program Files folder. It reports tht on my system AVG is installed instead od tht McAfee Antivirus it provides for free. That is pure spying !What other information does it get from that FU*** BB Client ?Another reason to use GPL software !

Don't worry. It's just a log of the Sify client checking what AV you have on your system so that it can prompt you to download the McAfee AV if it finds any other kind, and not log you in unless you download it 😛This detail and other details aren't sent to Sify. They stay on your system unless you yourself email them to Sify. Afterall if they were sent to Sify why would Sify need to call some people up and ask them to forward these files, as it's doing now.But we never know when Sify decides to change its ways.

use some other client for sify.. or call up the customer care to disable the antivirus feature.. you should also get heartbeat disabled while you are at it

Well, wouldn't the client be spyware if it forces itself to open up their homepage when you don't want to. Lol, I had 7 days left on my package, and it says I should renew it soon. They got nothing but money on their minds. As of now, still 7 days left. Not going to use it, not going to renew it. 😀

Starts telling me to renew 10 days before my pack expires everytime.Well, technically forcibly opening a web-page isn't the function of a spyware but of a browser-hijacker. So the BBClient is more nearer to a browser-hijacker 😉

Well whatever it is cl@$$ified as, it's junk and totally bothersome. To the users who still use Sify, I hope one of you alternate sify program writers, can shame the original client.
