Compare your usage with people who are getting 100% speeds as mentioned in the plan.

I don't think it is due to usage but due to line quality and more imp the distance from DSLAM with a DSL connection the further you are away from the DSLAM the speeds get reduced.

BTW I always get the speeds that I opted for but the DSLAM is just about 75 - 100 meters from my house, BTW my average usage is around 30 - 40 GB/month.

30-40 GB and 130-150 GB Big difference buddy, am not saying this is the reason for capped or low speeds. But, it could be.

from Day 1(night booster) im facing this issue. Contacted the CC & waiting for the technician.

Logon to the modem interface via 192.168.1.1 and check the download and upload rate that you are getting on your modem, When I first got the connection the modem that I got was faulty but I had another spare ADSL modem with me and I connected that modem and showed them the results and they agreed to change the modem, the problem at my end was not the speed but it will get disconnected every 5-8 minutes with the modem they had given and with my personal modem I did not have that problem.

It is some times pain in the $ss to get proper resolutions with reliance tech support as the tech they send to me hardly knew what I was talking but I being in the tech industry for 2 decades being a network admin of a IT company was able to convince them about the problem.

How to do that? Educate me....

The admin login / password might be a bit different if you are using a different modem, in my case it is a Binatone ADSL modem first connect it directly to your PC / computer via ethernet (you cannot use a Wifi modem)

The once you go to http://192.168.1.1 via your web browser a login prompt should appear the usernname is admin and password is password there navigate the left side tabs should see something like download rate in kbps that is the max download rate that can be attainted in your line irrespective of your plan check that and post the results, it would also show you the upload rate.

If you have a different model of ADSL model there the username / password would be a bit different try admin / admin or root / password etc or google to get the default password for your modem model make.

I hope this info helps.

A bit off topic, I just upgraded my Airtel ADSL connection to 4 Mbps but just getting 2 Mbps it is due to the fact that the modem is set to 2048 as downspeeds (2 Mbps) they need to reset the same, now I need to convince them to do the same 🙂

Me too have Binatone ADSL Router. When i type 192.168.1.1 in my web browser i get this...

I even tried it with turning off the AV & its firewall too. Even tried the ip given in the binatone user manual....no success

Did you connect the binatone modem directly to your PC via the ethernet cable?

Sorry you need to preform these additional step, I forgot sorry about that.

You need to setup a static IP address for your ethernet card on your computer give it something like this 192.168.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 set gateway to 192.168.1.1 and then try (might have to restart if using old OS like XP)

Then see if http://192.168.1.1 loads up and logon

Do note after checking the values via the modem admin interface don't forget to reset your ethernet IP address back to automatic DHCP otherwise you would not be able to browse the net.

Yeah that is the info you would want to know, looks like your data rate is set a 1 Mbps so no problems on that front you should be able to get a max of 1 mbps on your line, I am not too sure about if your line Atteunation if that is okay (sorry just don't recall if those values are good) may be some one else can chip in about that.

The junction box is in the next street(nearly 100 metres). So what is the real problem here? The service engineer called me up for my residence location but didn't showed up today.

Raj,Why not boot up a linux live CD and check do the speed test from there? Just to rule out anything 'malicious' in your windows.

Now i've migrated to 1 mbps plan still i'm not getting the 100% speed. Really need a expert advise here before i call the CC & hear their blah blah....

Is it because there are many Reliance broadband users in your neighborhood - all accessing at the same time? This may sound weird but I think this is happening in my case. During the day, download speed varies between 115-130 KBps. During the night, it's 140-150 KBps!

Raj one last thing you could try is when the tech comes to your place, ask him to just put a stand by modem and test the speeds, about 3 years ago I had major upload problems reliance tech did everything for about 40 days changed the line ports etc every possible thing I was just about to disconnect the connection coz of the slow upload speeds less than 40 kbps, when I suggested them to just try a spare modem and that fixed the issue.
