i am already on a 4mbps plan on bsnl broadband. and my line stats are barely stable. i doubt they can increase my speed anymore without laying down fiber in my area. so i am not expecting anything to happen for a long time to come.

Yaar susubh stability to dur ki baat hai. Their lines have only become crappier with time and now, their lines go bad in every rain, wind, winter, lightning etc. DSNL blinking problem is there for sure in such conditions but the problem is that noise also comes with such things such as rain, wind etc. and it needs to be repaired. And the linemen do not even rectify the line noise unless a minimum of Rs.200 is paid. It happens nearly every month and I need to shell out Rs.200 extra. Nowadays, they even complain that Rs.200 is too less and they should be given Rs.300 - Rs.400 bribe. Fck their customer service is relatively better than a few other networks (definitely not as good as Airtel etc. but perhaps better than Reliance, Beam etc. it seems) but those linemen work only on bribe which is not needed in private players. I doubt even Reliance guys would fix in a day or two if they are given Rs.200 bribe .. LOL. I have to pay Rs.1910 (including taxes) for a 2 mbps connection with 40 GB limit only per month which then reduces to a pathetic 256 kbps which is not even broadband speed as per National Telecom Policy 2012. Add to that the Rs.200 at least that I need to pay the linemen every month with a day or two of downtime or crappy line too. That makes to Rs.2100+ per month for a crappy 2 mbps connection with 40 GB limit. Leave apart Indian ISPs, I doubt hardly any ISPs in Africa would charge so much for such a crappy connection and plan.A few years ago, BSNL and Airtel were both leading the broadband sector and bringing new plans, speed upgrades every few months. Airtel is moving a lot slower now but still there is some movement. BSNL is neither moving forward with their broadband plans nor do they seem to be planning to move forward. One question Susubh. As you have recently moved to BSNL from Airtel, whose line quality is better in your opinion - Airtel or BSNL? My line quality in Guwahati is crappy half of the year in BSNL and there is no Airtel here. When I was in Delhi, Airtel line quality was quite good with good pings too. I have never seen less than 100+ ping even to Indian servers since I moved to Guwahati and took BSNL. Initially, BSNL used to compete with the private sector at least and brought speed upgrades once in a while which was still fair enough and gave me some solace. Now, they have even stopped that completely and stuck with the same plans for more than 2 years with no foreseeable plan changes announcements in the near future.

to be precise, Airtel is moving backward 😛

Agree. 😛 But even after moving backward, they are still ahead of BSNL plans as they were moving forward at least in the last two years when BSNL had stopped moving even an inch. Just to give an example, at Rs.1700 (minus taxes) and Rs.1910 including taxes, BSNL provides only 40 GB data at 2 mbps speed and thereafter 256 kbps. In comparison, Airtel provides 80 GB limit on a 2 mbps speed with 256 kbps thereafter on a Rs.1699 plan in all regions where they are present. So, Airtel still provides double the benefit in the price point I am paying. If I move a bit up, Airtel plans are far better both in speed and pricing compared to BSNL. For example, their 175 GB limit plans are very good for the speed and pricing compared to BSNL. BSNL is somewhat OK only for the low end plans (below Rs.1000) and nothing else. Airtel is regressing at times but BSNL is in a deep slumber from where only god knows who will wake them up. As I said earlier in another thread, don't be surprised if 3G and 4G plans become better than BSNL wired plans in the coming years.

So this mean Airtel gonna fck its customer even more orrr customers might fck them eventually.

even more precisely they are moving to myanmar.

LOL. I am not supporting them but at least that shows their interest in continuing business and growing as an ISP though I doubt they will ever bid in some Western country where they will face tough competition without an option to loot that much. But BSNL is not even interested in providing services or expanding. A few weeks ago one of my friends went to BSNL office to apply for a new broadband connection. But they gave him a form and told him that they will come within a few days and test the lines and if the lines are good then only give him a connection. But they never came to even check the line. A private player would be more interested in gaining more customers. But BSNL employees do not even care about business or profit. The only thing they are interested are some bribes from the customers for even doing minor repair work (this holds true especially for BSNL linmen who are corrupt and greedy to the core). BSNL does not have any guidelines on estimated time of resolution and this makes the linemen even greedier and they can just say that they have other works.

My experience with Airtel. (using it from last 9 months)Had some problem in the line yesterday @ 4:30 pm.Registered the complaint at the same time and asked them to fix it asap.within 2 hours airtel technician came to home and fixed it.so far.. best service I can say..I have used asianet broadband, reliance broadband... but none came near to airtel's service..
