Airtel Turbo 1299
Hi!

I recently complained about the unfair implementation of FUP on my plan, i.e. Turbo 1299 plan. I got a call back from Mr. Sunil Kumar from the Airtel Presence team, but he was not able to give me satisfactory answers for the following points. Hence, I am posting this here. Maybe others can provide some inputs too.

1. Why isn't the night speed of the Turbo 1299 plan being doubled to 2mbps as per your double speed offer?

As per your "FAQ for FUP" (Airtel Broadband : FAQ for FUP) page: "If you were an airtel subscriber on with a data plan of upto 2 Mbps, you will find that airtel upgraded your speed at no extra cost." This is NOT true for the 1299 plan, as only the day speed is being doubled, and not the night speed.

2. After the FUP limit is reached, why aren't the speeds brought back to the original plan speeds?

Once the FUP limit of 25 GB expires, the speed is reduced to 512kbps for both day, and night. The original plan's speed (before double speed upgrade) is 512kbps day and 1mbps night. As per your "FAQ for FUP" (Airtel Broadband : FAQ for FUP) page: "Once you reach FUP levels, your broadband speed goes back to your original pre-upgraded speed." This is again NOT true for the Turbo 1299 plan as the night speed is reduced to 512kbps instead of 1mbps as per the original plan.

3. Why has the FUP limit been decreased from 100 GB to 25 GB?

My original FUP limit was 100 GB. Why has it been reduced to 25 GB now?

So you see, the Turbo 1299 plan users are at a double disadvantage. First their night speed isn't doubled, and then their night speed is reduced to half after the FUP. This is highly unfair, partial and unethical behavior on Airtel's part, and I demand proper justification for the same.

Regards,
Kalpik

Because the OP has not posted all the SO CALLED necessary information....which is must for them to reply...and if they post a message asking for the info then people like ME object to it....so better to keep silent 😀

Ya, even I had opted for that plan (when it was launched) but I'm glad I got it changed to "Downloader 1099". My current plan is as follows: Day 1 - Mbps UL (upto 20GB, 512 Kbps thereafter), Night - 1 Mbps UL (NO FUP). But, since last couple of months I'm getting constant 1 Mbps speed no matter how much I download. I'm pretty sure last month I downloaded around 100 GB and uploaded around 50 GB but there was no change in speed. So, I'm quite satisfied with airtel! 😀

You were lucky mate! I am still waiting for justification Airtel!

i had the same questions and they had no answer hence i left them 4 months back.Do not know what is airtel presence thinking by having a section here still !

An update on this plan. I just started getting 256 KBPS speed and I enquired whats the matter, They said that the new FUP is to give 256 kbps on all connections once download limit has been reached. I enquired thattill date I was told that my speed would go back to my original plan but they said again(mechanically) that the new FUP is to give 256 kbps connection to everyone. Basically doesnt matter if you took a 2 mbps Unlimited or what not your plan has been reduced to 256 kbps plan for the same amount that you were always being charged.I'm planning to get my broadband disconnected(which I presume will take an year) and change to MTNL who are providing 1 mbps unlimited(truly unlimited no FUP) for 999 Rs.

Ok I'm re editing my previous post in this one. Apparently the cust care representative is an idiot.I got my speed back, it was most probably a server problem but cust care huy didn't know Sh***.Though the FUP is still valid (1 mbps all the time and probably 512 kbps after FUP limit but I'll have to check if speed is 512 after FUP, as currently i'm still getting 1 mbps)

actually he just might be right. none of the airtel plans currently have FUPed speed more than 256kbps. a couple of folks are getting better speeds because of either some mistake on their part or a decision on their part to pacify old customers. on paper, they have totally fcuked up all their plans. and some users on older plans are being forced migrated to the newer plans.

Sushubh: What's the point of keeping this section open, when Airtel isn't even active here?

well think of it this way... this section is now highlighting the poor support provided by airtel customer support team. generally on the forum we do not even expect to get any form of official support. i was told that i was making it tough for them to help the people posting complaints related to airtel on this forum. so i would keep this forum on and functional just to do my bit. rest all depends upon them.
