What will happen to India if USA bans outsourcing and increases tarrifs..

..on goods and services like in the old days.

I wont be surprised that after the us 2012 election a conservative prez comes and pulls away from WTO,UN,IMF etc and bans outsourcing and introduces tarrifs.

Has anyone done a case study on this?What type of industries will be affected here and what will happen to our economy?

dude. ask. what would happen to THEIR economy? almost all tech hardware manufacturing is outsourced. Apple products getting manufactured in china? seriously?

you dont understand due to free trade agreements and outsourcing companies are moving offshore and using sweat shops and slave labour to compete with american middle class.If the govt bans outsourcing and introduces astronomical tarrifs then the us companies will have no choice but to bring back the jobs to usa.USA has ~20% real unemployment rate.You never know so thats why i am asking what would happen in an event like this to us and which indian jobs will be secure?

americans cannot afford to buy products manufactured in america. that means americans cannot afford to pay to get their products manufactured in america. that is a fact.

i am asking a hypothetical scenario.ohio banned it and recently us congress passed a bill to increase h1b visa fee.

AFAIK most of their IT backend services (including govt, defense) are run by Indian companies. So they would have first task to train their citizens to take role of these jobs done by Indians. But from what I know most of their citizens are not interested in such type of jobs which involves service, support. They are rather interested in R&D, Management, Medical jobs. Besides lobours/drivers/salesman/nurses are from Asian countries as again local people are not interested.So this is what their citizen's want. Now if govt decides to stop all the outsourced jobs, their companies would still find out some way to get this jobs done... by outsourcing, as they dont have anybody local doing it 🙂

yeap. there was an article in times or some other major newspapers. a lot of americans are no longer interested in doing things that mexicans and other folks do in usa right now. at least not at the current wages. things have changed a lot in the past couple of decades. to ban outsourcing today? it would be practically impossible. for you to manufacture locally, you would need more funds. for customers to buy the same thing at much higher prices? they would need more funds.
