Hey,I have Beetel 550TC1 which needs power adapter to run.My light goes off for like 1 to 3 mins and I dont want to loose connection to the internet, so I brought a new UPS from ebay, iball 621v, but it cant hold even just modem for more than 50 sec.I tried finding beetel 100cx which it is not available in market anymore.Any help would be greatly appreciated.P.s I will be using Laptop, and just need something so that modem is even powered when light goes off, I dont want to invest in inveter. Thanks

strange. any decent UPS should have enough battery back to last for hours with just a modem connected to it 😕

Yeah, i brought it for Rs 2745 from ebay and the ebay seller is not willing to help in this. Looks like I just cant trust UPS any more.

i am not sure why people buy stuff from ebay 😕 i mean you can never tell if the product is used or tempered with. get the UPS checked from some local store. you might have received a unit with a dead/used battery. get the battery replaced in that case now that your ebay seller is no longer cooperating. in fact for a modem, you might be able to find out compact batteries that are used for cordless phones. i have not seen these on sale around here. but i bet they should be available if you can locate them.

Thanks I will give it a try.

The modem says it takes 12Volts as input, is 12volts too much?

sounds similar to most devices that requires an adapter!

k, thanks, do you also use a UPS to power up modem? if yes, then for how many minutes can u power modem when light goes off?

Looks like you are trying to connect only the modem's power adapter to the UPS. Your modem needs negligible amount of power to function. If you connect only the power adapter to the UPS, UPS will think that there is no device connected and thus, it'll auto-power off (with the "NO LOAD" LED glowing) to save battery. What you need to do is... you need to connect something to the UPS (that'll draw small amount of power) + modem's power adapter. Then only it'll work.

Second option is to get in touch with the local Airtel lineman and request for a USB modem power cable. Something like this:

Both options are good. I suggest you go with the second one. I'm sure your new UPS is fine. Don't worry - your money ain't wasted. Always connect your laptop's power adapter to this new UPS when on AC power.

You are absolutely correct. I already noticed that UPS is getting turned of after 45 seconds, here it is how I noticed it (after posting this thread), I connected my laptop adapter to it and light went off and even after 1 min it was working, so what I did, I removed everything from UPS and it went off exactly after 45 seconds, with modem also it went off after 45 sec...I wasn't aware that USB modem power cable comes, so that is something interesting and new which I learned, Thanks for it. Needless you say, you are totally genius and helpful person and I really appreciate your efforts you took to make everything clear and crystal clear, not to mention every point noticed by you is correct. Thanks

You're welcome! 😗

^ Yup it's pretty cool! Even I was like :ishock: when I saw that thing for the first time. Airtel people have it. So, next time your modem's power adapter dies, demand for a USB modem power cable! 😛
