Hi guys,Ok, I have this laptop and when I came to chennai the first thing I did was to do a iwlist scan... incredibly I got a wireless network 🙂Now, this is an Airtel broadband, and its pretty fast, 256 kbps I assumed, and since the guy has bought a separate Linksys router, I guess it must be unlimited... so no harm harnessing his network for free. But then, I'm not able to do that... yesterday in mid afternoon, I managed to get a strong signal, enough to give me 32 kBps, for around half an hour, but the slightest change in the orientation of my laptop would bring that down to zero signal. So can anyone help me? Is there anything I could do? Any device (

In the meantime... can I wanna chose a broadband for my hostel use... I want BSNL because of its cheap wireless modem rates... but then as every one knows BSNL's cheapest unlimited thing is for 900 bucks. Which does not fit into my budget. What do I do? Do you think I can get some 500 rs (what happend to that 64K unlimited offer of Airtel? is it still there? in chennai? ) connection and get a wireless modem on rent (I need it only for 4-5 months, we'll then shift to the campus.. where there's WiFi already)The best option is ofcourse, use our friendly neighbours wireless, but then...thanks again, arnie

Well the cheapest unlimited connection is somewhere in the region of Rs. 700+ for 128kbps, and if that is over your budget then you really don' t have much of a choice. 64kbps is a joke - I wouldn't advise it. And yeah - stop stealing that guy's bandwidth!!!
