Have you guys checked out the new website. They have not only updated the logo but plans too I guess....there's a 50 mbps plan with 200 GB Limit...no Fair Usage Policy...means not unlimited...you pay 8999 for 200 GB then 0.20/mb...but at least they are talking 50 mbps connection to households...theres 8/16/30 mbps too with 2999/4999/7999 tarrifs and 50/100/200 GB limits

I guess you mean 50 and not 500

How are they going to deliver 30 and 50Mbps? ADSL2+ is theoretically limited to 24Mbps. Haven't seen them test any VDSL, they only form of DSL that can deliver such speeds either.

These plans are actually quite old - I've mentioned these plans in several of my own posts on this forum and in a few blog posts around the web (most recently at The most hated thing about Indian Broadband « Broadband Blog and https://broadband.forum/airtel-broadband/61851-my-airtel-broadband-unlimited-799-a/#post416469).

We heard about them in late 2009 and they were announced I think in March (Airtel to offer 50Mbps Internet speed in Delhi for Rs 8,999 - Hindustan Times Airtel 50 Mbps broadband priced Rs 9k is India's fastest broadband connection | DWS Gadgets Airtel to Provide 50 MBps Broadband Connection in India)

Availability is quite limited, mostly (it seems) in Delhi NCR and Gurgaon, and they're supposed to roll out in Mumbai and Bangalore but so far as I know that hasn't happened yet. Irrespective, IMO they're too expensive to encourage serious take up... especially for residential customers!

It's supposed to be VDSL2. Fortunately Airtel's existing last-mile network usually handles this without them having to completely rewire the lines between your nearest DSLAM and your phone jack, so they can just put VDSL DSLAMS in place of their existing ADSL ones (since VDSL headends are backwards compatible, they can use the same equipment to provide ADSL2 and VDSL2).

@^^ But I Think these plans were never on the website....I have there fastest on the offer till last month (4mbps) though they claimed 8mbps and 16mbps, but 4 mbps was on their website lately(though I had also seen the 8/16mbps quite sometime back)....So was just letting all know that airtel is changing....maybe thanks to Hayai 🙂

I can assure you, they were definitely on the website. Part of my job requires me to keep on top of what my competitors (and suppliers, as it were) are offering.

Previously you would click to set your location, then it would give you the option of "fast, faster or fastest", and if you were in a circle where these speeds were available (such as Delhi NCR), then it would give you the option of 8, 16, 30 or 50mbit/s plans - now it's just easier to find, that's all.

Yes, they were on the website. I have been checking it for the last 2 months and there is no change for the 'velocity' thing, AFAIK.
