canada too good for vfx, i will go there one day, yes by the time we get that speed i will get old, and canada will have double the speed.
 
Heh.. double only... don't think so, I was there till 2 years back, i went from Dial-up here to 2.5Mb/s line there, in a year it was upgraded to 3Mb/s, 6 months later to 5Mb/s and further 6 months i was at 10Mb/s all at approx Rs.1000 a month! I dunno what the speeds would be at now. The ISP had a "soft cap" of 30GB a month, but i often downloaded 200GB+ a month without ever hearing from them! You get the picture of how much the speeds have risen... 😉BTW Sympatico sucks! 😛
 
Sympatico is all about how close you are to the box in your area.I have a SNR of 23 and a Attenuation of 20, which basically means I get the best of what they offer. If you lived further away, then your connection might not have been good.There are really only 2 players here in Toronto, and that is Bell Sympatico and Rogers.Both go at full speed where I live, both are the same price, except there is a 60 GB download cap for both.It's true that they had a lower cap a long time ago but they would let over usage go without any problems, but now they actually enforce it, people have been receiving mails with over usage bills, since Rogers and Bell finally got their bandwidth tracking software working 🙁For long time subscribers though, they give deals like unlimited usage, and they don't charge anything extra, kinda like a thanks for being loyal. They also offer it to random houses to get people to switch 😛But yea, I clear anywhere between 150 GB to 250 GB in any given month, I haven't been downloading as much lately since I am working now, was a lot nicer when I was still in school and had more spare time 😛

I would love to have a 61 Mbps connection :OWell, so long as it has no download limit, otherwise you accidentally click on link and then change your mind and don't want it, and suddenly you just used a chunk of your bandwidth 😉BTW, I just tried to upgrade to 512 UL, but they said I have to wait till the 26th of the next month because that is when her first bill arrives 🙁 Oh well, guess my wife wins afterall heh
 
I am using the Airtel 512kbps UL Plan. I am getting constant 48kbps+ speeds.For the upload speeds though... I am only getting 25-30kbps speeds. The upload speeds shold be around the same as download speeds and even more. On the speedtest I am getting higher upload speeds than download speeds (almost double... 250 dl and 420 ul). Maybe it is the program I am using... which is uTorrent or maybe it is something else? Will changing my program help? Or what will increase my upload speeds? ThanksCrazysah
 

So... anyone? My download speeds seem to have gone up in torrent but not my upload speeds?
 
Well I dunno wht they promised you on ur 512 UL plan but with my plan, using uTorrent I get upload speeds of 57 - 62 KB/s but that's when I'm not downloading. Its either 512kbps Upload or Download for me. If done simultaneously the download speed would be swaying from 40 - 55 KB/s and uploads from 30 - 45 KB/s. I did nothing except follow the Port Forwarding tutorial posted in this Forum. Apart from that I can upload to my server (FTP) at 67 KB/s. Downloading from server at same speed. Never tried to do them both simultaneously.
 
Yes. Simultaneously... uploads and downloads never touch 50kbps + together. I have seen a spike in upload [though marginal] when I am not downloading. Locally... I have never tried to see how much my download and upload speeds are. Any place where I can test this?
 
WTF .....AIRTEL REALLY SUXSI GOT 512 KBPS PLAN HOPING I GET 512KBPS SYMMETRIC(64 KBPS UPSTREM/DOWNSTREAM)BUT I AM NOW TOLD IT ISNT SO( READ THE FINER PRINT)i GET 512 KBPS = 334 DOWNLOAD (55 KBPS ) CAPPED + 200 kbps(min) ~~~ 534 kbps for 1999 + taxes = RS 2200DIS ONLY MEANS WTF...WHY I GOT AIRTEL THROW THEM OUTTA INDIA
 
I'm getting good upload speed, but my download speed is stuck in mud at 17-25K. If I run a sniffer I can see lot of packet drops, TCP DUP ACKs, Retransmission blah blah...***and for some reason, I get eye strain when I read text in caps 😗
