Hi, I want to change from a lower rental BB plan to a higher one but I don't know how to do that. I don't have a tele phone (would have cost 500 extra) so I can't dial 121 or 198.How should I apply for it? If it happens, would the new plan be activated immediately or after this billing cycle?

Send them a request for change of plan by email. Mention your Name, Account Number, Address and the new plan you want to migrate to. Airtel Customer Care email is 121@airtel.in

You can get it activated immediately (According to Airtel it will be processed by 3 days) or from next billing cycle. If it is changed immediately you will be charged on a pro rata basis....meaning the rest of the billing period with the new plan will incur charges as per the new plan.

Thanks, I sent the email, not as a request yet, rather as a query. There seems to be some confusion regarding the new plan and I want to clear that first. I am currently on the Browser 899 plan (512 kbps until 8GB, 256 kbps after that). The new plan that I am looking at is Airtel Net PC Plus 999. There seems to be some confusion however. Some people are saying that it is truly unlimited and some are saying that it is more like 512 kbps until 10 GB, 256 kbps after (Delhi region).Does anybody know what the specifics of the plan are? If it is only 10 GB, then it is a waste of money. It would be much better to buy 5 hours of 2 mbps SoD which will give 4GB of download at 4 times the speed.

well u can call them from from ur mobile (i assume u have one) by dialling 011-44444121

Thanks for the info 🙂

BSNL give true 512k UL at 750/month.

I know, I have it at my dad's place, but I am in Delhi and MTNL guys have been, uh, their usual self. Reliance guys seem to have a great plan but they refuse to give a wired connection. So I am stuck with Airtel for the time being.

Nevermind, the plan has an FUP of 10GB, which means that the Browser 899 is better VFM. Darn Airtel!

Lol, they are offering me Impatience 1299 and 1399 plans instead. I would rather use SoD when needed - that is one of the big plus points of Airtel BB for me.

As those of you living in Delhi might know, Airtel has intoduced slightly less priced Unlimited plans for Delhi:

Browser 699 instead of 899 (512 kbps)
Swift 999 instead of 1099 (1 mbps)

As I haven't taken any phone (have a phone no though), I sent a mail to 121 for changing my plan from Browser 899 to Swift 999, and I got a pretty annoying reply:

We would like to inform that we are unable to activate bill plan 999 as the same is not applicable in your account. We request you to visit our website for more plan Logon to Mobile Prepaid, Broadband, Postpaid Mobile, DTH Services in India: Airtel

I have already sent another mail requesting a change or a reason for the plan not being "applicable" to me. Funnily enough, my friend who lives next to me got this offer of Swift 999 from the Customer Care guys themselves!

What should I do in case I get another canned reply because the Cust care guys don't know their plans? Call 011-44444121? Or call the Nodal officer?
