A rate change and a new plan from MTNL

So here it is, there was too much nonsensical speculation on MTNL reducing rates of 2 Mbps to Rs.599/- and all that crap, people's ideas were were flying too high, that MTNL will provide 4 times the speed for Rs.599/-

MTNL Mumbai has hiked rates of unlimited 2 Mbps plan to Rs.4999/- per month!!!

Also, a new plan called DSL_3995_Freedom, with charges of Rs.3995/- per month with a download limit of 50 GB, and additional Rs.0.40 per MB beyond that.
 
From this we can only see Price hike in 2mpbs so we can more price in other plans too?

Wasn't that a Delhi thing? Wasn't it also a mistake. MTNL Mumbai's 2mbit/s rate at 599 had a 2.5GB download cap.

Granted, these are damned expensive - 5x the price for 2x the bandwidth of 1mbit/s. And 10x the price for 4x the bandwidth of 1mbit/s. Seriously, WTF??

Agreed. The 4mbit/s price hasn't changed, but why on earth did the 2mbit/s price go up by a massive Rs1000??? MTNL should be buying more bandwidth than ever at the moment (thus getting cheaper prices) - their contention ratios have fallen from 1:22 in the first half of 2010 to now be beating Airtel's 1:17 by having a ratio of just 1:14.

They must be compensating for the 3G BWA 🙁

Yeah, it was a Delhi thing. What I meant was there was unnecessary too much speculation about MTNL quadrupling speeds of the 512 Unlimited plan, just on the basis of people experiencing 2 Mbps on 512 Kbps Unlimited plan.
 
2mbps on 512kbps Rs599plan was mtnl glitch that they had made.Might be fixed now . as they had lost many GB's of data in order to compensate they might be charging more.
 
Well they shouldn't be charging extra bucks for their mistake !!! and the glitch by MTNL hasn't been corrected yet !! (Still Lucky ) !!
