Hi,I have an ALCATEL SPEEDTOUCH 330 DSL MODEM. Can I use this for the BSNL DATAONE DSL service or is it that the only modem that works on it's service is that cheap built modem that BSNL supplies...🙂Was anyone able to configure their other modems (apart from those supplied by BSNL) on the BSNL DSL service? Would appreciate your help on this please...Thanks!

Yes you can certainly use other modems. I use a router though. The router was not from BSNL.

Hi!!I was able to connect my SpeedTouch 330 USB on the BSNL Dataone ADSL connection. If someone wants the procedure to connect, I will forward the email I got from the Speedtouch Customer Service. All you need to do is uninstall the existing Speedtouch driver and install the driver that the CS people have sent me. That's all! And you are ready to browse.

Hi!

Can you send me the driver file sent by speedtouch customer service. you can send it to viswa98@hotmail.com.

Thanks
Viswam

I believe that LAN connection will be faster than the USB connection. Try it if possible.

Hi Viswam, Sorry I did not check your message....were you able to connect after changing the settings? If not let me know and I will send the email to you....

I have received reply from speedtouch customer service. They have given instructions for manually changing the vci & vpi values.

If any one want can check the link.

i unable to connect after changing these values, can you please tell me in detail if anything other than this needs to be changed or send me drivers.

Sujana posted this on other community forums

Please carry out the following:

- Unplug modem
- Uninstall software/driver SpeedTouch 330 USB
- Reboot computer
- Turn off any firewall- and/or antivirus programs
( Leave the modem unplugged)
- Start off with the driver installation
- After completing the installation or when prompted,
please plug in the modem
- Finish up the installation and see if it works![/b]

Hi 22jiCheck the type which is next to VPI and VCI values. It should PPPoE for BSNL Dataone Broaband. If this is wrong it will not work. You have to change the values. While installing under local settings menu select one which uses PPPoE type. I.e if you have purchased the modem from UK, then you select Eire settings which will install PPPoE then you can manually change the VPI VCI values.Viswam

Viswam/22ji/Sujana,

I need to use Speedtouch 330 on MTNL triband.

Facts:
1- My ST 330 USB ADSL had come with my connection in UK.
2- It was working fine for 5 months in UK.

With MTNL Triband,
1- Both lights remain solid green (USB and ADSL lights).
2- While connecting, it says 'all devices in line connected successfully, then 2) Verifying userID and password - 4/5 times and then 3) Remote computer did not respond.

I have tried everything mentioned here.
1- Uninstalled and installed ST330 drivers (one that came tih modem and the one suggested in this forum)
2- Changed VCI=32 (suggested by MTNL) and VPI =0.

Questions:
1- Someone suggested here to make connection type = PPPoE instead of PPPoA. But, with any of two driver software, I could not find such a registry key at any locations including where VCI and VPI registries are available...
2- Please help me, how to get this working.

p.s. I know this is a BSNL forum, but as many have got ST330 working, I posted it here.

or email me at rajuldoriwala@fmguy.com and I can even call at given numbers..

thanks,
Rajul

i would recommend you to switch to the LAN interface first. Secondly, you put the modem in bridge mode. Then you try creating a PPPoE connection in Win XP / 2000 or whatever your OS is. If it works then we can see if we can get it to work in the regular mode.BTW this site has a MTNL TriBand forum. So you could've posted there.Admin, i request you to move this thread to the appropriate forum please.
