can i create new partion frm the drive which already contains some data?

yes you can.Looks like you have some kind of corruption on partition. Try running scandisk.

Also try and get the latest update of PM, 8.05 i think it is.

you need to checkout if gparted can help ya.

I think real problem is corruption in file system. Unless newer verions of PM ot Gpart have scandisk functionality built in, do NOT try those on this disk wihtout a complete backup.Or fix the disk with scandisk or some other tool.

PM has internal disk checking utilities. right click on disk(with errors) and chk for errors!
back-up data and format the disk

PM does not, i think it just calls chkdsk.
