An internet-active, fun-loving 18-year-old who hates needless beaurocracy and values results is looking for a nice ISP who will treat him right in the Bandra, Mumbai area. ISP must offer 24/7 access (that means no proprietary login program) and unlimited downloading. Speed should be 512 Kbps or above. ISP must permit aforementioned 18-year-old to connect multiple computers to internet via LAN. Good customer support a plus.(For those who don't like my Personal-Ad style post, here's the translation: I am looking for a new ISP. I live in Bandra, in Mumbai. I want an ISP that offers a _real_ broadband connection; as in, its on 24/7, and I can download as much as I want for a flat rate. I have a LAN set up at home, and ideally I would like the connection to plug into that and feed all the computers on my network. I would appreciate any suggestions.)

Don't you think that the need of this little 18 years old is just more than what we all have. 😛 ISP must offer 24/7 access (that means no proprietary login program) and unlimited downloading. Speed should be 512 Kbps or above.

Well better idea pal. Choose an ISP...corner the owner's daughter.....ask for unlimited internet for life . MUch hasslefree and freee.

Such an ISP does not exist in India. forget it dude. ..or wait for 4-5 yrs!!or as someone said...marry an ISP onwers daughter!

agreed!!! so may be if u cn adjust u're requirements........u may come across "some less than perfect" ISP buddie! 😉

or better still...........go out n' do a "research" on the ISPs available in u're area and post them here. I'm sure the experts on this forum vl surely guide you rite (of course.......keeping in mind u're "biodata")........once u' provide them the details.

best of luck! 🙂

Bah. I'm dropping the joke. (And yes, it was supposed to sound like a Personal Ad, in a vague attempt to lighten up an otherwise depressing subject (namely, the state of ISPs in India)).I can get 512Kbps right now (well, I can according to the Tata Indicom, Reliance, MTNL, and Sify's websites), but its not unlimited.Reliance has a flat fee offer (unlimited dl, always on), but its slow (150Kbps). I don't even think that qualifies as Broadband.MTNL offers a slightly better deal of the same sort, at 256Kbps, as does Tata Indicom.I'd probably go MTNL first (300 Rs. cheaper), then Tata, then Reliance; except, I think we all know that what the ISP says and what the ISP does are very different things. So between the aforementioned choices; what would you guys pick? Taking into account the ISP itself (their reliability, etc.).(Yeah, fine, I gave on the 512. Nothing's perfect, right?)

Savant i think you are a good poet.... you could have added some rhyming also....ok... now regarding isp... go for sify pure unlimited... its best and cheapest for non torrent downloads and meets a bit of your expectations!!! 😛

(Some more specific questions🙂How do MTNL users get their internet? Is it an always-on deal, or do you need to use some program? How about Tata Indicom (same question)? And I'm currently with Sify, though not their unlimited offering. And I'm less than pleased with the QoS (quality of service).

umm it is possible if u hav enough dough (rs. 5000-6500 Per mnth) or mebbe even more........ 😉 u can get direct unleased lines from ISPs like exatt which offer this *premium* plans and ya no login and pure Unlimited
