D-link 502t Web Interface

Hi,
I've recently moved over completely from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu). No troubles with the transition.

Now while configuring port forwardng on the router, I realized that Firefox doesn't work well with the interface of the D-Link 502T.
Clicking on so some buttons does nothing at all!!!
I tried galeon, epiphany, mozilla, IEs4Linux... nothing works
Couldn't find any Linux browser with an IE rendering engine

Is there any way of configuring port forwarding, save settings & reboot, using telnet??

I guess it is possible using IP tables, but I'm a new at Linux, and wouldn't want to mess up something without knowing how to fix it.

What I'm looking for really is some help on commands to do this (or some reference site)
I've tried googling and av come up with nothing

My last option would be to partition a drive to use Windows and IE just for the sake of the router.
I've almost learnt to live without Windows... not quite there yet.

Well the Router firewall can be very handy with the weak windoze firewall...But with IP tables its no worry at all...This an alternate solution..not exactly what you wanted...but just my way out temporarily..So for the last time time boot to windoze and set your router in bridge.Then you will have to use pppoe in Ubuntu to connect.Then, grom command prompt just run "sudo pppoeconf" and follow the wizard.Then just build firewall rules using WebminEdit: did you try konqueror?...search around for how it works with konqueror..and if it does...you know what to do.

Is it possible to change passwords from the connection window?I change passwords once a month, so how do I go about doing that? (Router pwd and MTNL pwd)Is it possible to have complete control with Linux (without a dual-boot with Windows).How do Linux users get things done without having to use Windows???

Well you just have to modify the pppoe configuration using "sudo pppoeconf" to change the MTNL passwd. But I am afraid you wont be able to change router password.Complete control possible using telnet...but more research will have to be done. BTW one more browser left out....OPERA..try it..

try using: mask as internet explorer in opera.

DUDE ..one more thing...why would you wanna install XP (if I am interpreting you post correctly!) just to play wid the DSL 502.Take it to a friends place and do the config ..!!!

or you could just connect it to it online and do the dirty stuff...

Installed Opera 9 and it solved the problem 😀 And, not just with the router interface. I tried a few websites that weren't functional with Firefox, and Opera gets some of them right... even without 'Mask as Internet Explorer'aniketvb, I would have installed Win98 on a 500MB partition.. just to use IE... don't need to anymoreSt0le, u mean connect to it using telnet? I have no clue on modifying router settings using telnet

BTW caterpillar..An Off Topic suggestion...I must say you should try using Fedora Core 5..it a painless Linux experience compared to any Ubuntu. I have used 5-6 distros and Fedora Rulez . Setting up Internet is also a breeze in it..plus its rock solid

Sure, will try it someday 🙂 I'm quite new to Linux, so didn't know which distro is for me.Was looking for a single-cd distro and found Suse 9.1Used it for a while, but wasn't really convinced to migrate competely to it.Then I tried Ubuntu, and it's got me hooked. Maybe it's the simplistic appeal. I've not had any trouble setting up the internet or finding the right applications. As for browsers, I've only had this page display issue with Firefox. But now that solved too... thanks to OperaWhile we're still off-topic, in what way is Fedora better than Ubuntu?I need a rational reason to make the switch 😛

One more trick....I just hit uponIf you cannot click on the buttons...navigate to those buttons using "tab" key and press enter. It worked on my college site which is not supported well in Firefox.
