I have a doubt, that is the so-called toll-free numbers offered by various pvt companies like insurance, banks, etc. are these really toll-free?? Or those who are calling has to pay any charge like local call charge when calling from a BSNL Landline? Sent many mails to bsnl, but no avail and reply regarding this. I doubt that these are not toll-free. Can someone who has good knowledge or know about this can shed light in this?

go to a nearby pco booth and ask him this question. he is not likely to charge u anything for making call to this number... 😛

Toll free is free as long as you don't consider that these companies charge for these services when they sell you the product!!

the 1600 numbers are toll free...i.e customers dont pay anything...the companies pay for it...These are called "Intelligent Network Services"Refer the telephone directory....they hav documented everything there
