Help Needed For Adsl Modem Setting

BSNL Dataone
I use BSNL Dataone 256kbps connection. The modem type is Huawei MT 882. In this modem if i set connection type to PPPoE I am unable to connect using PPPoE dialer of WinXP. However I am able to connect using the connection option in settings summary of the modem. When I set the connection to RFC Bridged then I can connect using the dialer. Why is this happening? I remember I could connect with the settings set to PPP in earlier times. I had to reset the modem a few days back. Has some setting got reset? Any idea guys...
 
when you use windows xp dialer , modem's setting should be in bridged mode only . there is nothing wrong in it . if you want to directly connect to the net thru the modem then only you have to configure it in PPP mode . I hope this is clear .
 
right mate. I understand. I am sure I remember that when BSNL gave me this modem (maybe it's actually a router) it was set to PPP. Even then WinXp's PPPoE dialer was able to connect. However the link led was never steady green but used to flicker between green and orange real fast. Now when I set it to Pure Bridged the led remains steady green.
