if i use the setup cd i get an error during the process. but wifi network is created which i can access from ipod touch and Nokia 5800 but not from laptop.

If yours is a always on connection then its PPPoE if you have to use a dialer then its Bridge. The above tutorial is when the modem is in the PPPoE nothing there has to be changed.
Also the desktop is connected to the WiFi thru the LAN cable.
Also remember all machines connected to the WiFi should have the same SSID.
Check that your firewall is not blocking out the IP range you are using.

well i had a technician over my place who tried to configure the router. wifi network is made successfully but wifi can be accessed only on ipod touch and Nokia 5800 but there is NO internet on both my laptops. when i go to run and do ping i get host unreachable error. any idea

I would suggest that you redo the connection setting on your laptops, have you checked the points I have mentioned in my last post (#4)?

I have the same wireless router (Linksys WRT54G) and the other one is D-Link DSL-502T. This is how I connect it: Put the DSL router in Bridge mode and the wireless router in PPPoE mode (enter the username and password, etc). Works for me.

well i kept trying the setup wizard cd and it worked at last. the router was configured wifi is functional on 1 laptop which i has not used for nstallation and phone, ipod touch and wii
But still 1 problem on the laptop which i had used to setup the router now i get the "error no supported wireless adapters available in the system" in intel pro wireless. also when i press wifi button on screen i get the wifi on image but the light on the wifi switch doen't light up.

Setting up wireless router is very simple and easy just read following steps...

1. Connect your laptop/desktop using LAN cable to MTNL ADSL router..
a. In internet setup configure your MTNL ADSL router with usual login/password which is usually your telephone number @a and CA (consumer a/c.) number respectively.
b. In internet setup configure Encapsulation: PPPoE LLC,
c. Bridge interface - deactivated.
d. Configure connection - Always On
e. In internet setup, mention Get IP address - Dynamic
d. In LAN setup congifure primary and seconday DNS address as provided by MTNL.
..Now disconnect your LAN cable from laptop/desktop..

2. Now connect your wireless router to MTNL ADSL router through LAN cable..
a. Normally your ADSL router IP address is either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Therefore in the internet setup of your wireless router mention the IP address something like 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.3 etc..
b. Configure your default gateway equal to the IP address of the ADSL router as mentioned above..
c. Configure primary and secondary DNS address as provided by MTNL..

3.
a. Enter/configure your wireless network name, it could be your personal or typical any name..
b. In wireless network security mode configuation enable WPA/WPA-2 encryption.
c. Enter any 12 - 16 digit network key for encryption. Important - Note down this network key for later use to setup wireless network from your laptop/desktop.

4.
a. On your laptop/desktop wireless adaptor setting set IP address to be obtained automaticlly (TCP/IPv4)

Thats all..You will now be able to connect your laptop/desktop to internet through wireless LAN using network key..

I have Sterlite ADSL router from MTNL and have my own D-Link DIR 300 wireless router. I am able to connect both my laptop as well as desktop to internet by using above method..

Enjoy..
