What is the purpose of combining two connections?

[/b]

Isn't that obvious ??

......probably I can find out some other way to solve your problem .....
[/b]
What's stopping you  !!??

Okay so lets assume you are trying to dowload huge torrents...

There is a Moded version of Azureus that can use multiple connections. I will try locating code for that.

why would you want to pay 2 x (price of 256Kbps) when you can get a single 512kbps for a lesser price than getting two of 256Kbps? I really don't understand why.[/b]

Hint,,,a 512k connection is what you get if you want 512k speed.

2 x 250 will give you just that. Most prolly to ease internal congestion you have something like this.

It is illegal for one person to be connected on the internet using two IPs in many countries. Maybe you will go scott free in India.[/b]
Eh ? why would that be then. If you use more than one iSP at a time, you are commiting a crime ?..in a country like india or wherever connections can be dodgy, it might be mandatory to do this if uptime is important. or if you were a midsize company where it would not be practical to use just 1 IP.

There is a link to the last version of midpoint released many years ago. It does not work very well with XP SP2. I think its the only link on the midcore web site that works. They have now changed name and programs to something much more complicated. In fact it was so complicated I could not find the program on their new web site. I also tried intergate and every program I tried screws up your machine to start in some way and then crash or cause connection programs or what not that I gave up on software solutions. Usually you dont just get something to use multiple connections, you get like a huge combination of crappola just to use something so simple as connection teaming. Which worked wonders with 56K modems and windows 98 and everyone and their brother had a program to do it.So I just use the route function in XP. Go to a dos box and type ROUTE PRINT, You can route a packet to a particular destination via a particular network card/IP address. Eg Route destination source.Source being the gateway to secondary IP number... Since XP will by default only have 1 gateway address, usually the one you just connected. You can un-set the "Use default gateway on remote network" in TCP/IP settings to get around this. But XP seems to be able to use only 1 connection easily. But by using the route function, I can set link-removed transfers to go via 1 connection and my web traffic via another connection. OR some Torrent connection via 1 card while the rest goes via the other to get close to 90% of combined speeds. So using 2-256K connection will give me like 55K download rate while a single conneciton was like 30K.

i dont know if i am right or wrong but in windows XP dont you have a bridging mechanism and also in linux dont you have ethernet network card bonding? i am not sure of multiple network card bondings in linux if possible in XP but well its worth a try. and as far as i know (afaik) i havent seen adsl (soft modem/routers) with 2 ports available in india. well worth a try anyway with 2 NIC card bridging/bonding in M$/linux.apologi 4 error & sense & spelling & et al other mistakes. + Linux, Just Works (TM).

bridging 2 connections in XP won't help as many have said earlier that XP won't use both connections simultaneously for data transfer.if you have 2 lan cards then you may be able to get increased speeds in torrents but forget about getting 55KBps from link-removed or similar sites by using 2 256kbps connections.

i agree 199% with those who agree with me, rest i am sorry you folks are on the odd side. here is why
p.s. if airtel leases IP like 122.162.32.122 in one node and 122.162.32.123 so if we go by theory then the resultant IP should be 122.16xm.yn.(122+123)/2 = ? 0_o WTF..... 122.162.32.122.5? hehehe! and also if constant.162.213.189 and constant.162.107.231 then how will take the average of 2 IP? well i am kind of wondering like an ass madhat!
2 IP's cannot be combined and 2 IP's cannot co-exist at the same time from ISP's IP lease box! so you may bridge it up but the net result is the same, you may just end up saving one more mobo's PCI IRQ address which may be used by the network card. hopeless give up! you cant beat laws of physics and electronics and electical science. give up give up! not possible.
one line short answer: just surrender one 256 and upgrade the current to 512.

also all the downloading from a site supporting download managers which downloads files in many parts simultaneously requires a unique identity of your computer based on the IP so in my opinion whatever method you try there is no way that you can get your download manager to download a file with half the connections on 1 IP & half on other.even in developed countries there are routers/modems(ones with 2 ports for ADSL) which supports load balancing but even they can only help with outgoing/incoming data in case of torrents as a single host making a connection to a remote server such as the FTP/HTTP server is only going to be able to usea single link, because if you used two, you would appear to be two separateunrelated systems.this is also why modifying IP tables in a linux based system will also helps in speeds with torrents only.nothing else.
