BSNL WIFI Nokia 1600 does not connect to my WIFI..please help

Hi all,

Hope my problem would be solved here..I just got my new BSNL broadband of 512 kbps connection with WIFI router with Nokia Siemsens Residential router 1600.

those people just came and home and they just connected to my laptop -- via ethernet card..it was working fine...

Now i am facing problems connecting it wirelessly..

so searched this forum..I didnt find any specific setup of this kind of modem this forums..but got some links for..wgxxx wifi router...it alsomost similar..so i set up the wireless confiuration for my modem.. too including security..

then my laptop showing there are wireless connections avaialbe...till this moment i was so happy..that i confugured everything correct..

Than i tried to remove ethernet connect tion and tried to coonect to wireless connection..I named it as..mybsnl: since i have securred WPK setting..
it is asked for key and i gave pre shared key..

the moment i click connect.. laptop showing erroor emessage.."count not connecto my bsnl..wireless assoiciation failed due to unknow reason "

even i tried with open (that i unsecured network) it does not work...

But when connecting same modem through wire..ethernet card..net is simply working. fine..

I double checked the wireless settings in modem 192.168.1.1 everthing seems to be fine according to instructions in this forum..

When i connecting through wire..broadcam device is coming network centr..
when i try with wifi mode..then no device islisting there...is this any mistake..

Am i doing something wrong in setting up wireless connections..

Somebody told me to set "automatically obtain ip and as well dns option " for Lan settings and wifi settings ( is this true ) currently they are with this automatically obtain option only...

Whats wrong with these..any ideas..the purpose of taking wifi modem to browse wirelessly but...it not allowing me to do..

SNR margins shown 30 30 is that ok..

dear essbee.. Thanks for your answer..will try it.. where to enable DHCP for modem..sorry..for bothering you again.. I think this DHCP checkbox is checked in my modem settings friend...any ideas..pls

1.usually we have problem with the security key settings.
Try security disabled.
2. WLAN settings :
Start Network WLAN
Properties
New page opens
On top your WLAN is listed.
click Configure
check enabled or not
fault finding
Advanced
select ssid or adhoc g mode.
Post ipconfig /all

Dear ESSBee,thanks for your answer...as you are talking about WLan setting...is that on modem settings or in my laptop ---> wlan -- right click properties..sorry for my poor knowledge..even last time you only helped me for my airtel breakdown problems..since no netowrk i went for bsnl now..ipconfig..details bit facing problems..i will post it soon...are you frm chenni friend..even me from chennai only...mmmI tried without key i mean security..then also same thing...getting frustated dear..do i need to format my system..i dont know how i am going to solve this...last time when i had airtel connection, he configure ip address and all in lan configuration..but many says go for automatic..which is true.. your help is only hope friend..i gone wifi for wireless..now frustatited with wired connection...pls help

new window opens
type ipconfig /all
Copy paste the data here.


START Network LAN or WLAN
Properties
NETWORK settings page
select TCP/IP
properties
New page
Obtain IP address automatically
DNS
8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220
Apply Save

Hi Essbee, No solution worked for after so many attempts of correctly setting but no luck..Called bsnl they said use ip to connect to lan instead of automatic..no luck again..they asked me to uninstall wlan and reinstall again..just i did update that driver still no luck.. I checked modem for vista compatability..it passed microsoft tool test.... main problem is my lapi dectting the "wireless networks are available" but not able to connect..STATING ERRORS MESSAGE "WIRELESS ASSOCIATION FAILURE DUE TO UNKNOWN REASON " ..searched google for this..mircrosoft some fixes and i did that..still no luck... Actually before this connection I used to have AIRTEL BROADBAND connection which has some ip setting earlier..i removed those all NOW WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, IF I FORMAT THE SYSTEM AND DO A CLEAN INSTALL AGAIN..WILL IT WORK.. OR I JUST SHOULD SAY TO TAKEBACK THEIR WIFI MODEM AND GIVE WIRED MODEM SINCE..I AM PAYING RENTAL FOR THIS WIFI MODEM.. I tried without security key and with..but still same error message. PLEASE HELP ME..

1.confirm you could not even get connected in LAN mode. VPI/VCI for BSNL 0 and 35. DNS to be used 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220DHCP to be enabled in LAN page.2.Post ipconfig /all data.

I DONT FACE ANY PROBLEM IN INTERNET VIA LAN DEAR.. IT ABSOLUTELY WORKS FINE...
DHCP is enabled in both Lan and Wan...

since i am in office , evening i will post those ipconfig details...

does it require to create a wireless profile in "Manage Wireless Networs " option..I tried to create a new profile then (option use existing range neworks mode) ..it show bsnl wifi..when i try to connect..after passphrase..same error message.. !

If I got it right, you get error while attempting to connect itself.are you using Windows Wireless Utility (Wireless Zero Configuration ) or do you have a separate software installed for your wireless adapter to configure and connect to wireless network on your computer. am from Chennai, you can catch me on Yahoo .. ajdotin

just feed ur MAC address to ur router and it should work fine..is disable MAC address filtering in router...cheers!!!
