Both airtel and jio needs additional spectrum in urgent. If they are just renewing the spectrum then we are stuck with slow speeds.

By the way I must say nobody will buy 700mhz given the base price set by the govt as it is already being put in auction with now buyers . Even if someone buys our handsets probably won't support it atleast mid rangers.

Huh... Then what was it that Jio plans to launch 5g by 2nd half 2021?
One member mentioned Jio will use 4g spectrum for 5g deployment.. so alteast Jio will have to purchase some spectrum given the already burdened 4g.
Spectrum rates... That is what I am talking about. Chances are they might go for renewal.
I heard from somewhere govt is planning to allocate trial spectrum for 5g for testing, maybe jio is focusing on them..

Government has extended licenses to bsnl for 20 years.

Here is a quote from the article,
"Following the issuance of the licence, the telco would be able to provide seamless 2G, 3G and 4G services across all telecom circles in the 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2500 spectrum bands."

So that means bsnl can realign , the existing 2g/3g bands to 4g right since the spectrum is liberalized.also maybe bsnl buys some more spectrum in band 3 ,it depends

DoT wants Bsnl to completely shun 2g services, which is a major cash cow for Bsnl. They have already refarmed 3g spectrum to launch 4g in some states before the ban kicked in..

As long as BSNL has active 2G customers, it would be difficult for Jio to takeover and integrate. Once 2G is gone, it would be a cakewalk.

in kerala bsnl is running 4g on band 1 5mhz in some areas, if they use 900mhz for 4g then there will band 8+ band 1 + b41 here , and if they buy 20 mhz in band 3 ,then they can match or over perform jio isn't it and also they become fully 4g operator . Forgive me if am wrong. They can also use dss for band 8 , I don't know if it's feasible, but vi is already implemented dss in few places in kerala

The main problem for BSNL apart from their employees is the beaurocracy of the government. BSNL wantes to launch 4g but they were forced to source 4g equipments locally.
Which company do you guys think will shut before BSNL or Vi?
