Sify 64kbps Download Speed (compared To Exattnet)

i stay at Mulund. i got the pamphlets for both Sify and exattnet from the local franchise- comparing prices Sify harges almost double for the same package as that charged by exattnet. last month i used exattnet 256k and download speed i got was 34k. so because of price differences , is it that Sify will provide much higher speed than this? also in Sify i am looking for 64k unlimited package; could someone tell me how much is the download speed tht i get?

u wil get a speed of 15 to 17 kbps in this package

on a 64kbps pack u'll get around 8-10KBpson 256kbps u'll get 30-32KBps

On the Sify 64 kbps package I got 11 KBps consistently.

ull get 6-10 i use this pack only

on sify 64 if u get an average speed of 6kbps consider youresf lucky.....
8-10 is just a dream :lol:

I get 7-8 kBps consistently (56-64 kbps) on Sify's 64 kbps package but it's down a lot. I stay in Delhi and during the summer time because of the powercuts half the time the gateway was down even when we have 24x7 power backup in our apartment complex. And as soon as the first heavy monsoon shower came yesterday it went down again :blink:

I changed to 128 a couple of months back from 64 kbps (Navi Mumbai here too). I get around 15 KBps with downloads on Opera, and 16-17 KBps consistently using IDM. Yeah, I was disappointed that there was just an increase of 5 KBps from the 64 kbps line, but this just goes to show that Sify is generous to 64 kbps customers here 😛

Thanks Dukes, I dont think it will be any different in speed for a 128 kbps on sify. I guess 256 kbps should be a probable option for me then if I am really looking for some speed. The real prob is, in my area Sify stands to be the only service provider, so I have to take whatever they care to give. I have until 10th of Sept for my current account to expire unless I decide to finish it off quickly 😉

Its always between 10-12 KB/s and never less than 8 ..

I actually tested my connection speed online with these sites over different periods of time.

Interestingly, I usually got a download speed of the range 70kbps to 96 kbps,
Now we all know the conversion of kbps [kilo bits per second] to kB/s [KiloBytes per second] which is to divide this speed value by (x/8)/1.024 [for the bits to byte and 1000 over 1024 for the 2^10 factor]
So, while my 64kbps connection should give me
(64/8)/1.024 = 7.8125
what I am getting is around
(96/8)/1.024 = 11.71875
Now this is very confusing. Are sify guys giving us more than what we bargain.
Not in a million years yaar!! After all its Sify!! [yaar = friend in Hindi]

Back to my connection, I have up until 7th sept while my 64kbps connection gets over, and I am looking at these results for my download needs

96 11.71875
128 15.625
256 31.25
