If u live in Delhi then u can enquire abt S-Video to RCA cord in Nehru Place, iam sure u'll get it there

u sure it will work in colour?? like blr_p said the ones u get in india will only work in black n white.
u tried it b4 ??

Found a decent guide on the matter. Wouldn't mind something like this convertor, but without the $70 price tag!

That's only if you are trying to output VGA to (RCA or S-video), if you get a graphics card that has a S-Video out then all you need is the adapter or a cable. If you go for these compact products, then you will pay a premium for the size, just get the graf card + cable and you are done. A good graf card is useful for other purposes as well, where as the product you linked to is only good for one thing and rather expensive i thinkThe other thing i must mention is that i use a Thinkpad T21 that has 7 pins for the S-Video, if yours only has 4 pins, then the cables you get in India might be sufficient since that is what is used with VCD players and very easy to find. Mine was a special case of IBM trying to be too clever for thier own good.

Ok first up, what will you be using it for? Unless you have a plasma or LCD tv, and are running a CRT tv, you will not be able to get a very good picture for things other than movies and games. The refresh rate on TV"s are terrible, and so text will be blurred and hard to read, and so you would barely be able to read this. If you intend on using ur tv as another monitor, don't waste your money. If you are using it only for movies etc. then it's fine. Get an old AGP video card with svideo out, or even Vivo if you want to get something a bit more flexible.

U actually have this model ?..oh and price tag is $140...so if all u want to do is watch movies u DL form the web in a more comfortable sofa, this is defnitely overkill.

I don't have it. Find it easier to burn things on CD-RW to watch on TV. My PC has a 2 channel sound card, not good for movies.

I don't want to use my TV as another monitor (and I have a regular flat ascreen CRT). As blr_p said, all I want to do is to display DVDs and Divx/Xvid movies on my tvs to see from a more comfortable sofa.

unfortunately my desktop has crapped out and I have since moved to a laptop, which has made me rethink using PCI cards... I would rather pay a little more and have a USB device that I could use with either, and perhaps even at a friend's house if I want to.

How does this device by KWorld look?

Well, I'm not counting on the mail-in-rebate because in my experience unless and until you really get after them, you will never see the money. Added to that usually they ay they wil take 6-8 weeks to process it... so they pretty much count on you forgetting about it. They are mainly scams for the most part.

Most laptops have s-video out already. Are you sure yours doesn't?I'd get a nice AGP card, PCI video cards are well outdated, and even AGP is dying now. Of course, if your lappy doesnt' have svideo out, then get the usb one.
