I am a Indicom user for past 18 months. My early experience with them was superb (especially after I escaped from Sify). They made cerytain changes in their business plan in past six months, which has made it patheic and frustracting service.1. They have out-sourced the local maintainence to unknown local mechanics2. Gather huge custoimer-base, but didn't increase the call-center staff in proportion3. Created business-process that stall all the escalations at front-desk/call-center4. Stopped all feed-back mechanismNow how does it impact you? Since Indicom is not an incumbent service provider, all the wiring it done over-the-head using hang-and-move approach. This is prone to faults due to weather, birds and comptetion (yes they do cut each-other wires). Now this is when the problem starts. Try calling their cal center - you would be lucky if you can get through im less than 20 minutes. I have tried even at 1 AM, I was in the queue!!!! The call-center folsk are trained to be completely non-commital. We will try, ASAP, best effort, on priority - are some of the words you will hear. And then the ordeal - no one will show up to fix it. The local filed support (out-sourced) is hope less. They simply do not do any thing. However, they might change the status of your cal to DONE with actually moveung their butt. So, you keep calling the call center everyday (and wait for 25+ minutes to get throug). Shout, scream, jump - nothing would change. You will not be put through any escalation channel. To rub salt on your wounds - your serious attempt to get the problem fixed will be responded as "you will be given credit in your bill" (i.e. do not expect any thing better and stop complaining). I am sure there is no accounting for open tickets more than certain time or fault analysis. So, folks bottom line is - IF IT WORKS, IT WORKS (beautifully). BUT IF IT BREAKS, YOU HAD IT (and unfortunatly, in local conditions chances are it will break every so often).I hope it was useful. Any one from Indicom listening? Hello.....?

Hate to break it to you brother...but thats the story of every damn ISP that runs on Indian lands. 🙁

No!! it is not so with every ISPYou will be amazed by the sarkaari operators.I am using Mtnl from april and except the few glitches i havn't yet faced any major problem

Dewd belive me ..there is always a glitch. If you are being benefited by ur ISP....its just cause ur ISP has limited area to cover..which in your case holds quite true. Going on BSNL or Airtel or Tata...the list of Woes never cease to end. Moreover MTNL users have been cryin out lately too...like recently a guy was experiencing downtimes on his torrents...and some other dewd with MTNL wasent. Just if u r sleepin on a bed with a sexy chick 😉 doesnt mean everybody else is also...xD. 🙂

First of all, Alok...

It would be highly educational to the rest of the readers if you post where the heck it is you are from.

For example, Airtel has had problems in the north of the country, almost 90% of complaints about it come from this region. But guess what it runs smooth as silk in the south. (Banglore, Chennai (prolly the best) etc)

DIFFERENCE !!

Hello, did you say credit !!

This has to be the first time i have ever heard of an ISP (in India) penalising itself for downtime. But do they really do it ?

If so, then this is a good step, the usual story is you get the service you just described, and flat rate is what it is, flat rate for the ISP instead, for downtime. But i have to say this is typical of smaller operators, Airtel for me here in BLR has been stellar.

Hello guys,

I am a Tata Indicom user since one and half months. I am simply amazed by the incompetency of the call center/support staff. It took me 5 days just to connect to their cs number (btw I am from Bangalore).
Its 2 weeks now since my net connection went down. I call them up daily and the response I get is the same old s***. "Will be fixed within 24 hours". They hardly respond to email complaints. I think I made a biggest mistake by going for Tata Indicom in the first place and moreover going for perpaid connection for 3 months. I mean I have lost 14 days in one month of unlimited plan and obviously they wont refund any connection time. I agree all the ISPs don't offer ideal service, but this is absolutely ridiculous. One can't go any lower than this.

Is Airtel not available in your area ? prolly not..or u would not have made this mistake.

Yes, last time I called up Airtel, it wasn't availabale. I will again give a try this time once this connection expires in next month (may be sooner if this continues like this)

Might be you are saying right and the problem you are mentioning is about Mtnl mumbai
where frequent problems do occur which also led to some hidden surprise for them.
😉 They are happy with it! Ask them?

Well, guess who made profit from all these? Not Tata, not me, but Hutch! I got my moblie bill today which amounts to around 1000Rs more than normal all of which due to the calls made and attempts to call the disgusting customer service.

freinds! I paid for 5 months and guess what ? I subscribed for 256 kbps connection and tata gave me not even a 50 kbps connection..And to add to it when I tried to register a complain with the tata people to get my problem sorted ..the customer care people sitting in hyderabad greeted me with verbal abuses..and the tata indicom broadband manager of kolkata disconnected the phone on my face..telling me that he is out of town...So remember if you land up in problem with some connection problems with tata indicom connection...Get ready for verbal abuses and some misbehaviours..in the site they say "Experience super- fast Internet from Tata Indicom Broadband. High – speed Tata Indicom Broadband is brought to you by VSNL – the people who introduced Internet in India. Avail of great offers on broadband installation charges, services and more. With a wide range of content from movies, music to business services, no matter what your Internet needs, Tata Indicom Broadband has value-for money tariff plans for you. " they must add this lines..You will also get some verbal abuses and misbehaviour as part of their customer service"Guess TATA is becoming a LEADING SERVICE PROVIDER!!!God help their customers
