I currently have the UT-300R modem, provided by BSNL when I bought the connection. I had bought the modem straight away. Now, I'm planning to get a Wi-Fi Modem/Router so that I can share the connection with my laptop and PocketPC. Is it possible to get the modem exchanged for a Wi-Fi modem/router from BSNL itself (paying the difference in price)? Or would it be better to buy a Wi-Fi modem/router from the market. Which model would you experts suggest?Does anyone know what Brand and model the type 4 modem given by BSNL is? On the BSNL site, the modem's price is listed as Rs. 2000.Whereas any decent Wireless LAN DSL modem/router will cost at least 3000. I would like to know how good BSNL's modem is. Does anyone own a type 4 modem? Would anyone be willing to purchase my UT-300R modem?

Dunno about type-4 but BSNL provids a cheap chinese WiFi adsl modem/router (Huawei Wa1003a) at Rs.1800+tax.184 = Rs.1984. Not bad for the price. Alternatively, you can get a WiFi router from market in around Rs.2500 and use it ALONG with your adsl modem.Even I am looking for a cheap WiFi router to use ALONG with my adsl modem (Huawei 880).And no, BSNL will not exchange the modem if you purchased it outright, they only exchange if it is rented. That sux !!

Ajan , contact your local cc for that. If you are lucky they might exchange it for you.....
