ok before i start of this topic i must tell you that i have gone through a lot of the posts and though a lot of them pertained to my question none of them could give a conclusive answer of how exactly the system worksThis month i got my mtnl broadband with the 590 NU package. For the first couple of days i used stay up till 12 to turn the router on and off, and then off again before 8 next morning.I then switched to bridge mode thanks to this forum and started using advanced task scheduler to monitor the method the night usage. All was working fine and even my sessions history used to show me logging in at 1205, loggin out at 1230, logging back in at 1231(once more disconnecting and reconnecting at 3ish) before finally disconnecting at 750.I was feeling highly satisfied with the whole process till today when all of a sudden on opening my sessions history i saw that my net reconnected at 1231 but logged out at 805 in the morning.I had gotten up in the morning at 805 and switched my router off just for extra precaution.I downloaded about 690 mb during this period.[/b]my question is regarding the rule of night downloaded. i am a delhi user.the site mentions that router must be switched on after 12 and off before 8 to get the night time free download. Now what exactly happens if one doesnt turn it off before 8. i have read in a couple of places that they charge you for the mb only between 8 and the time you use it till ie 805 in my case. While some say this others say that the entire night usage will be counted in such a scenario.Though my usage summary hasnt counted the 690 mb but on reading people posts it came to my knowledge that the usage summary is actually just shit and its the session history which truly counts. I am feeling really pissed about the whole thing and dont know whats going to happen. i will really appreciate it if someone could tell me the exact rule for the download with reference to my query above. Please reply asap as this has gotten me really worked up and will stop using my net to save up on mb if im going to be charged for the entire period. Also has anyone faced such a prob with advanced task scheduler

AFAIK you'll be charged for the downloads between 8 and 8.05. If you're charged for the whole session then thats wrong. You need to get it sorted out. BTW if MTNL had unlimited connections you wouldn't have gotten all worked up about the downloads 😉. Ask them to provide unlimited connections at affordable prices! Every voice counts you know!

Ideally u should be charged only for data downloaded between 8 and 8.05 AMBut if u do get overcharged then pay a visit to the exchange with a print out of ur session history and i am sure they would make amends. After all u cant download 690 MB in 5 mins, can u?Abt that late logging off problem, r u sure that MTNL clock has not run ahead of u ? Always keep a check on MTNL servers clock, its usually ahead of the correct time and schedule ur disconnections accordingly. There are Plenty of alternatives available if u dont wanna use adv task sch. U can use the inbuilt task scheduler in win XP or u can use a download manager which has task scheduling built into it like the free download manager.

thanks a ton for your replies, however my point is that is anyone clear of what the exact rule is.These are the exact words written on my usage account page1.NightMB Indicates MB Download (usage) in the current month during 00.00 to 08.00 Hrs(For DSL 590 NU plan only)2. DSL 590 NU Plan Users Please Switch ON CPE during Night after 00.00 hrs and ensure disconnection before 08.00 hrs for availing Unlimited Night Free Internet Usage(what the hell does this mean- if not disconnected before 8 then what???? ok maybe if they have to charge me then fine but then why doesnt it reflect in the usage summary, if these nuts charge me without it actually reflecting in my usage summary then isnt that their fault. how is a user supposed to keep a track of his usage if their own page is reflecting wrong results. All in all i think, its the fact that its a govn freaking run thing and their stupid logic and rules which have got me worried. incase any of you know someone decent in the mtnl broadband i would highly appreciated info from a knowledgable person because calling their dumb call centers gives varied results and in the end you end up confused what you had actually asked them for and what they answered.

well dude, here u go...i have never been charged for the whole night's mb if i forgot to switch off my router at 8...i've been charged for only what i've downloaded after 8...like just today morning i overshot it by 2 hrs...i reconnected at 10 am and i just lost 200 mb of data when in total i downloaded around 800 mb...regarding ur not disconnecting automatically is concerned, it's the MTNL server...they've again gone fast on their clock...i just resetted mine a while back and the difference was around 7 mins and today i noticed that the difference is around 13 mins...so either u change ur disconnect time according to that or sync ur comp time with MTNL server time...and it's not that that "Account Summary" doesn't matter...in fact, it's the actual thing that shows how much MBs ur left with...so enjoy!!! 😀

yeh I agree with coolbuddy_79, i left my pc on whole night to download the movie and woke up next morning at 9:00 am, but when i checked the usage on the site it was showing that i have used up 92 MB between 8:00 and 9:00 am.on another ocassion, where i used the autoshut program for the PC, my PC went off at 7:50 am, but when i woke up at 9:30 and checked the usage it was showing that i have used up around 20 MB between 8:00 and 9:30 am, even though my PC was turned off.But again its MTNL, so cant take a risk. I always switch off my modem at 7:50 am.

thanks a ton coolbuddy.given the fact that you are a delhite and are governed by the same set of rules as i am hopefully there should not be a problem. reading that has relieved me noend. thanks once again. and just have to say that mtnl nu really rocks, i just wish the price for the unlimited one comes down a bit cause 1399 is a ripoff. at the moment im happy with this but who would say no to 256kbps unlimited.
