I am living in Gurgaon near Delhi. Right now, I am using some plan of Airtel which even I dont know what it is. When I check my usage details in http://north.airtelbroadband.in/ it says something like Zipnet mini combo package.

I get around 10 kb/s day and night. So it must be around a 128 Kbps package, but actually giving only 64 Kbps download speed. So, if I upgrade to a 256 Kbps plan. The speed I can expect is around 20 KB/sec. Is that right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw the Tariff plans on the Airtel Broadband website and the Home 999 Plus package seems to be the best one for me.

According to the detalils there, I will have to pay Rs.999 every month. And an additional 1 rupee for every pulse.

One Pulse is 3 minutes. Therefore I have to pay 20 Rupees for every hour.
And with a speed of 20KB/sec I can get around 70 MB in that same time.

So suppose I start a download when I am going to sleep and leave the PC on for 8 hours in the night. So, assuming the speed is 20 kb/sec throughout the night, I can download 562.5 MB of data and pay around Rs 160. Is this calculation right? 🙄

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, to the last and biggest doubt. There are some packages where both data transfer and pulses are billed.

They say they are giving 1 GB free. But they also say that 1.20 Rs will be charged for every additional MB you download. And to makie it more confusing in the same package there is also a charge of 1.10 Rs per pulse.

Can someone explain how this kind of package(Speed,Freedom) works?

I am a newbie on this forum and if any of these questions appear foolish please excuse me. Thanks.

i had say...use the 999 wala unlimited package for the broadband line. would give you around 20-25K speeds during the day time and 35-40 during the nights. if u make a lot of calls, and there are regular phone packages which are cheaper for making calls, get a second line.

HAHAHA!!!!!

All fools in broadband forum pools

The 999 unlimited plan doesn't has any extra charges because it is unlimited for data but 1/pulse is for any voice call you made that is call to Pots or mobile.

Similarly in 1GB plan you will be be charged Rs1.20per mb extra for data (because it is not unlimited data plan)
while Re1.10 per pulse is for voice calls again

yeah buddy I think you are getting confused between "per pulse" and "additional MB" charges.

Home 999 Plus is an unlimited plan, i.e. no broadband charges beyond the Rs. 999 + taxes per month. But the per pulse charge is there if you make any calls with your landline. With Home 999 Plus you can expect around 23-25 KB/s or maybe even slightly more if you are lucky. 20 KB/s is a nice safe conservative estimate.

So, even if I use the internet everyday for 8 hours and download more then 10 GB in a month I will still have to pay only Rs 999?
