NEW DELHI: You don't need to carry mosquito repelling coils and creams to vacations anymore, your mobile handset can shoo the mosquitoes away.


Micromax Informatics Limited (Micromax), a mobile handset manufacturer, launched a new phone with a mosquito repellent feature, in association with popular youth channel MTV.

"At Micromax, we try and add features to a mobile phone so that it helps the user in day-to-day forms. This phone - Micromax MTV X360 - has a feature whereby a specific sound at a certain hertz is played and it helps in shooing away mosquitoes in immediate surroundings," Rahul Sharma, executive director of Micromax, told reporters.

Apple app store has several applications that claim to do so. i tried on my ipod touch. did not really work 😀

^ Must have been designed for America mosquitoes. Indian ones are stronger 😀

i guess ipod touch speakers are not as good as the speakerphone on the iPhone.

This tech is junk science !
