no, the chipset is different..Utstar has Broadcom and D-Link has some other..both run busy box though

UT-300R uses GLOBALSPANVIRATA (now owned by conexant) Viking-I/II chipset while UT-300R2 uses TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ARM chipset.

DSL-302G/T uses Viking-I/II chipset only.

UT-300R2 uses embedded linux kernel version 2.4xx, while DSL-302G/T and UT-300R uses GLOBALSPANVIRATA proprietary embedded OS.

Hi FriendsNow I'm using Airtel's GPRS as the source of connectivity for home use.And I'm fade off with the quality/speed and planning to go for BSNL Broadband and want to purchange a Modem/Router from market rather opt from BSNL itself.Gone through the threads/posts of this forum. And found that many are recommending DSL-502T.But it has a known problem of auto die during power fluctuations.Again as it has only one RJ-45 interface you can not share your connection to others (may be ur friend or neighbour) if you want. For that you ve to attach another switch/hub/....Today I dialed D-Link guys and they told the current price of it is Rs 1850/- 😉Again I had done google for review of DSL-504T as it has 4 RJ-45 interfaces but according to few they have serious problem with that.In that case which one would be better (preformance wise) ?Thanx

UT300R2 does not use TI ..it uses a broadcom chip as i had earlier stated :

See dude its simple. Your budget is moderate and you want something good as a router on your pc. Nothin beats DSL-502 T in home use router range. Yes its true that it dies automatically in the event of a power fluctuation but that can be tackled. If you cant defeat something head on you can always circle around it and then eliminate it. In this case all you need to do is run your router through your UPS via spike buster. Hardly expensive and a solution to this problem in the event of fluctuations. And this is also a fact that the router dies most of the time under heavy fluctuations...so if u have a good UPS and a better spike buster your router shall remain safe and pumpin.

DSL-504 or DSL-502T....whatever product you take their are flaws in every one of them. If products became flawless the companies will run out of business. So whatever survey you do ...no one will give any router a 100% success certificate. Their will always be those who will criticize. Since Indian broadband market is in the prime of its life we cant expect heavy speeds for quite some time to come. So if i were you i would have assessed that currently we have 256 Kbps speeds in common and max we can get to 1 Mbps in like 3 or 4 years. Since DSL-502T is a great router and can support heavy speeds and is currently cheaper and better than everything else with a good service record, i would have definately gone for it....which i have. So ultimately its a choice u gotta make.

That is not the solution..that is the problem itself ..ie the router loses the link inspite of being connected to the U.P.S.. I have 2 UPS's and it used to fail on both of them.

Well the thing is that i installed a spike buster right after i started having this problem....i cant technically explain this but the problem got fixed. Livin in Chandigarh isint that easy. We have a 180 MW of power supply demand and we have only 140 MW barely. So there is not a day go by when i dont have low voltage and some freakin big fluctuations. I dont know how but a decent desi UPS and a good enough spike buster did the trick for me. But i cant explain how its workin for me.

n wht is the price....

Im frm Hyd...

waitin..for Reply....

^ @sify_hacker , spike buster is like a stabilizer . It blocks the sudden high voltages & thus it protects connected equipment . price starsaround Rs 250/- . beware of cheap qualities& duplicates . Ensure that spike buster has aprotecting circuit inside .

BSNL doesnt provide routers....yet only modem and WiFi...xD!
[/b]

the cpe's provided by bsnl are modem+router ok

i just got my broad band connection and i have D-Link GLB-502T ADSL 2+ router.. they configured the router for me and said i just have to plugin install the driver and start using. now everything went on fine and it got connetcted(USB port).. but the major problem is that it gets connected but am not able to browse the net for more that 10 min.. after 10 min or so it says page cannot be displayed.. but the connection is still connected it sends and receives bytes but it displays this message in browser.. the adsl signal light is on indicating that signal is available.. now i wand to know if its the problem with the router or is it with the connection.. or is there any setting in the router that has to be changed..
