Tata Indicom Plug 2 Surf = Does it work on desktop

Hi,

I have a laptop only and I want to know if it is possible to use Tata Indicom Plug 2 Surf USB Modem with a desktop computer. If yes, then any performance problem? I mean the connection and download speeds remain the same right?

Yes, the USB modem can be used for any computer, as long as the OS supports itthere may be a signal reception problem if it is buried behind the computer between the thick wires..

Thanks for the reply, I understand the singal problem if the modem is behind the computer. But the speed will be the same on desktop as well, right? I mean to say that the connection and download speeds remain the same both on laptop and desktop.

yes, speed will remain same if you get proper receptionit would be better if you used a USB extention

I have one question: Will increasing the RAM boost the internet performance?I have only 256 MB RAM in my desktop PC...please don't laugh..such low RAM might be considered as antique piece in near future 😉

mmm. RAM is only going to enhance your system's performance. 256 is actually not that bad if you are running windows xp or linux.

Thanks for the prompt reply...Well the Tata indicom guy asked me to increase RAM so as to boost the performance...I too personally think it would not affect the net performance...I am running windows xp...Thanks again !!!
