Heh, I thought so too, nothing else comes to my mind. Those sneaky b*st**ds.
Spitfire,
If you had bothered to read this whole thread from the beginning then you would have found the solution. Here it is from a couple of posts above--
I found the solution. Sify had blocked port 27015. They had to open it for me in order to play counter strike.[/b]

Aren't they attending to your requests to open 27015?
You can go to this site http://www.grc.com, click on the "Shields Up" link and let them probe your port 27015 after temporarily shutting down any firewall that you have.
If the result says "Stealth" then it means Sify is still blocking port 27015 and not listening to your requests.
There was another site someone else posted to check this out. You could look around the forum to find it. But it probably does the same thing as this site.
27015 is not the only port to be open. for udp it's 27000 to 27015 and tcp 27016 to 27039 i think. without the ports open, you cannot play. other than that, if you have an illegal copy of the game, the cd key is blocked. 🙂 oh valve has managed to up the anti piracy thing for CS. hehe.
/me is playin cs for a long time now, started at beta 4.. good old timesHere in india its pathetic..no leagues and stuffNow i play, on sify , 30 ping, on frag shack...some guys might know me, im using the sam name here as in the server
No probs Spitfire. The site I mentioned just probes with TCP packets and not UDP packets.Though if it's blocked for TCP packets I would think it's blocked for UDP packets too.
Well there's still free email and even free web access. I believe once upon a time in india, there was a service called Caltiger or something, and it offered free internet. It was dial up though. But I mean paying to play at a server, I don't think that's worth it. just my 2 cents.
