Many of you may have faced these problems:

a) this modem works well in bridged mode only,
b) many sites may not open in PPPoE mode,
c) unable to connect more than one machine to the modem/router... (atleast i faced all of these problems)...

I have seen a lot of discussion about this modem on this forum and many others as well... My friend and I got together and seem to have found a solution...

Here it goes:

1. Obtain "IP address automatically" in your PC
2. Do a hard reset to factory default
3. Enter modem through 192.168.1.1
4. Go to Wireless section first if you need wireless access through laptop or wifi enabled smartphones
5. Enable wireless, enter your SSID and security as per your choice
6. In MAC filter, Wireless bridge and Advanced pages, do not make any changes
7. Save/Apply
8. Go to Advanced Setup
9. Go to LAN page first
10. Make sure only Standard mode and Enable DHCP server are checked
11. Go to WAN page
12. Check Port/VPI/VCI are 0/0/35 and "UBR without PCR" is selected
13. Check PPPoE radio button and ensure encapsulation is LLC/SNAP-bridging
14. Enter PPP username and password as given by BSNL
15. Check "Enable PPP debug mode" and "Bridge PPPoE frames between WAN and local ports"
16. MOST IMPORTANT: Change the MTU size to 1432 instead of 1492
17. Check "Enable NAT", "Enable Firewall" and "Enable WAN service". Leave "IGMP Multicast" unchecked
18. Save and reboot.

Wait 2 minutes for the router to reboot.... You should be online from multiple machines.

If 1432 doesn't work, try 750 in MTU size.
Feedback please...

well, i am not a networking expert... these values have been arrived at by trial and error and a little help (in fact, a lot of help) from my JE...

the earlier models did not have this field (MTU size, i mean)...
the later editions of WA3002G4 has this feature as well...

it seems 1432 works well with UTstar Dslams and 1330 with Nokia Oclan switches...

more help can be solicited from Mr. Vijay Shankar of UTSTAR... vijay@utstar.com...

I am connecting to BSNL Broadband dataone
with MTU set to 1492 in my modem ( same as Ut300R2U/
Wa3002-g4 less WIFI hardware ).
MTU setting is not special to a particular modem or router.

If Different ISPs use dslam eqpt of different makes
modems without MTU option cannot be used.
( registry entries have to be changed )

REF: TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net.
how to set MTU
MTU Ping Test

I have a WA3002G4 router with following device info...BoardID: 96338W Software Version: 1132_061507-3.08L.BSNL_02. Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-8.7 Firmware Version: WA3002G4-0021.01 Hardware Version: WA3002G4 1.0  does this router has any option to set MTU.
