For past 2 years I have been on BSNL's 512Kbps Unlimited plan. My problem started 2 weeks ago. Please bear with me this long woeful tale.In March of this year, after filing a formal complaint regarding the disturbances in my landline, 2 linemen came and told that my wire was messed up and needs to be replaced. As my broadband connection was working fine, I didn't cared much at that time but 2 weeks ago, I started following problem. The modem is in PPPoE mode so I describe and deduce via LED indicators so please bear with me.😢My modem is UTStarcom WA3002G4. The "Orange DSL LED" blinks first slowly then fast and faster and when after a while it is supposed to get stable, i.e. constantly lit, instead it faints out. After 1/2 or 1 hour sometimes, it gets stable and when it does, the "Green Internet LED" which is supposed to first blink and then become stable to confirm connection, it blinks, becomes stable but as soon as it becomes stable, after 3-5 seconds both DSL and Internet LEDs go off and same drama is repeated. After 2-3 Hours of doing this charade, a link is established but problem doesn't ends up there. When I'm downloading torrents, if a torrent completes then the connection disconnects and reconnects after doing all that freak show just mentioned but now it takes lees time i.e. 15-20 minutes to reconnect. Now I complained to the BSNL J.E, S.D.O, almost everyone daily for past 2 weeks. Every time they asked for the error code and I always told them that my modem dials the connection so I can't tell them the error code. Last week on Wednesday the Lineman came and told me that,"Aapka number bind ho gaya thha, main unbind kara diya hai, ab koi problem nahin aayegi". Well everything worked fine till Friday but then again it started acting up. Today the BSNL people finally came and replaced my wire and as for Broadband, what they did was they removed the LAN cables from the modem and just allowed it to connect. This time in 2-3 tries, it connected but as soon as I connected my cables and resumed my downloads, it disconnected again. As it happened in front of them, they blamed my system for it citing that my LAN or CPU has a virus which is causing this bubbling of DSL link .:hysterical:A 4 year degree in B.Tech in I.T tells me that this is a completely baseless allegation. Moreover I'm running Vista, Windows 7 , Ubuntu and Open SUSE and the problem is seen in all of them. For a moment even if I consider the remote possibility of it being a Virus attack then logic says my connection shouldn't work at all. There is no setting in uTorrent that is configured to disconnect the link after completion of a download as the LAN cable itself carries Internet data, no dialing is done. Even the idle timeout is disabled in the modem's internal settings.Only solution I see now is to go to the JTO but last time I met the guy, he was less informed than me. Now I ask u guys as to what to do and if by chance u know the cause of the problem then please tell me the solution. I can't switch ISP as the BSNL is the sole ISP in my small town.:icry:

BTW, what do u want to see from the ipconfig?

BSNL Broadband is best. But BSNL's officers are stupid. Always DSLAM problem, OFC line problem, etc. They dont know how to talk with a customer. They have no time to come customer house with laptop to rectify the problem for which is the actual problem, modem, pc, line. For this reason day by day BSNL Broadband Line decrease. I think the educational qualification of the BSNL officers are very low like Class VIII pass TTA, JTO, SDE maximum Madhyamik or H.S. If there is any B.E. or B. Tech of-course they are 3rd Class. They have no any idea for latest technology.

Rudick, Had similar problems, and BSNL first answer is always, its your computer, everything is fine at our end. There BB fault control is handled by "Technical Dehatees" (who don't know basics, and follow the training procedure or bookish info to troubleshoot)I had similar problem not less than 5-7 times in last 1 years. Its basically your Line problem, Leave all their stupid suggestions, its mostly when there's some earth, or reversal going back to exchange, due to N number of reason, one prime reason could be the underground cable is having moisture.Visit and ask your Lineman, give him cold drinks or any "Vitamin M" if you wish and just ask him to change your "PAIR".Also if possible ask him to jumper your new line from another "D.P."(if technically possible) and I am sure it would be solved with no further diagnose.Done that many times, and also have video of cable was dug in front of my house when i complained around 30 times in 30 days, they took a branch off main cable in front of my house to settle the issue, ofcourse i had to push it thru a high official.Few months back their DNS servers were not responding for customers in my Area, 3 days no action, everytime someone visited local RLU unit, he was shown the ASDL Line and said, its Virus in your computer while i knew its something else, 4 days later when i contacted the supreme authority, he sent some guy with his jeep and he fixed it in 30 minutes thru some tower and computer tweaking at RLU UNIT.

1.

That is the usual "paracetamol" for all queries !
The link contains, websites with screen shots and instructions,
and posted for rechecking modem/router settings.
and for me and other users, who post in this thread at a later date.
Not all have installation CD and aware of
info available through Google search. ( top box in this page)

BTW, what do u want to see from the ipconfig?
May be a wild goose chase !

You can try OpenDNS 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
instead of Bsnl DNS.
Disable IPV6 in TCP/IP settings page.

Para two;

Your line SNR D/L and U/L is very low
Attenuation is very high.
Readings should be other way round :
SNR high attenuation low
Check all connections, corrosion/blackening, long cables etc.
Change Mod mode to GDMT
Uncheck adsl2+
See/try (dr) @ghpk suggestion also.
Its basically your Line problem,
Leave all their stupid suggestions, its mostly when there's some earth,
or reversal going back to exchange, due to N number of reason,
one prime reason could be the underground cable is having moisture

Feedback.

Since yesterday evening, it was running fine but today in the morning the BSNL SDO called me to see if it was all sorted. One bloody thing that popped up and verified now that my ADSL has become a dial-up in a way, friggin thing disconnects if a phone call comes in. I changed the passive splitter box too, but problem persists. The SDO who called was such a noob and arrogant rascal, he told me that its virus and repeatedly told me to get my system fixed while I kept on telling him that my dialer is not in my OS so a virus can't effect the bloody thing and I don't use Windows, I use Linux where a virus attack is almost impossible but he adamantly replied that on his end everything is OK, its my system that is virus infested. Today I'm going to the JTO and see what is his response. As for ghpk's advice, the Line man was the first one to conclude that it was a "Virus problem" so there is no point in my bashing my head up against that noob wall. When I told him that maybe the underground cable's got moisture, he said it was impossible and totally baseless allegation.About the SnR settings and Attenuation, how can I fix it?New Post- Just changed the mode to G.DMT and de-selected all others and pesky lil cretin started chirpin' like a birdie. Thank u all for the help. At the moment I'm reading G.DMT's wiki but can u tell me what this mode does/ has advantage over ADSL2+ mode?

Congrats.
Please post ADSL statistics Only SNR Attn data will do.
Also select T413 / Glite/ Adsl2
In WAN page if Mod select is auto this can change.
Keep Bitswap enabled.
Adsl2+ meant for high speed connections.

2. Also in maintenance/Management Menu
submenu client TR_069 disable it. ( only Airtel uses this)
Also "soap" box uncheck.

Feed back if any, with short paragraphs please.

Well here's the screenshot for SnR data and everything else u mentioned has been done except for the "Soap" box, couldn't find one.

I enabled T413, GLite and ADSL2 and as there was no Mode Auto option visible anywhere, the router reverted to ADSL2 and problem cropped up again so disabled all but G.DMT and thing it started working normally again.

JTO called me at around 3, told me that everything was fine at their end, i.e. from exchange to the sub station, will check the line from there on. After and hour or so, I tried to reconnect the connection using the default ADSL2+ line access method and it worked, looks like issue has been all sorted. Just want advice from u guys as to keep what as the line access method, G.DMT or the default ADSL2+? 😛leasehelp:

Save/backup current modem settings to
say C:/MyDocuments/ Modem working Ok.
( see under tools or maintainence)
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]IF IT WORKS DO NOT REPAIR[/COLOR]
Check Adsl data and save for future ref.
