Hello everyone,
Its just great that TV tech like IPTV has made its way into India. One benefit is that we get just one telephone cable into our house and we can use it in 3 ways : telephone, broadband and television. Great. Its been happening elsewhere too, and the concept of using STB for telly exists in homes with a family. As for people like us, they use computer for everything.
And since most of the people in India are hooked to microsoft OS only, they dont know the incredible capabilities of Linux. There is this version/distro of linux called Mythbuntu
It is an Operating System which serves the purpose of replacing the STB, and add a lot more features too. It acts like a home theatre and a computer with a beautiful interface. It has recording capabilities, and all other advanced features that you could dream of.(features like those will cost you 8,000 to 10,000per STB alone).
But this OS being open source, is free of cost.
My problem here is that I am having difficulty configuring it. I am not a tech guy, and thought that I can find a solution in the forums. But I didnt so I am posting this thread.
People in australia had the same problem and a nice guy just posted the solution(click here to see)
We being a country reputed for IT should be able to do it just as fast. If not, it will be a shame.
