Aah, I see your point

WiMax, disconnects every few hours, Login is a bitch

wireline? I am assuming you are talking about a wired broadband connection. Anyday, a wired connection is better. I have tried reliance, tata indicomm and airtel. Airtel is miles ahead of the rest. I don't get any disconnections, and have not called technical support in the 1.5 yrs that i have had the connection. Reliance is a bitch. Don't get even half of the promised speeds. If you have to take wimax, i suggest you go for tata.

well i believe the disconnections were due to the dynamic ip's they provided users.am going for the static ip plans. And yeah i have used Tata, BSNL , Hathway , Airtel and i Believe Airtel is the best out of these 🙂 .. I have not had very good experiences with Tata so thinkin of taking the risk of Reliance and see whats in store for me .

^^ if you think you didn't have any good experiences with Tata, Reliance, will be an even greater pit fall to cross.... atleast tata customer care actually "cares" a little bit. Reliance is only intent on threatening you to pay the bill asap... nothing else. no customer "care", no promised speeds, modem's useless, and the service guy who comes home expects tips!!!

Till date I have used tata, reliance wimax and harhwaythe best is hathwaythen comes reliancetata should not even feature on this list for its pathetic service and customer care.

lol i feel the reliance you are talkin about is similar to the tata connection i had back in the day anyways i have options of tata and reliance and reliance ppl aint taking shit frm me 😛 only 500 buckz for installation and one month advance where as tata requires you to pay 1000 installation and 1000 security deposit which never comes back. and they only waive of this stuff if you pay advance for four months or so which is just absurd . getting stuck with is what i dont want.well i am going to get reliance today just got the documents ready.

Can a Wimax connection be shared over a small lan with around 8 to 10 computers?

Yes but 1mbit for 10 ppl, not so good, anyways make sure you get a static ip

Ok finally i have my reliance Wimax internet working

and as they say the installation part is the hardest is very true

not going to complain have faced it with almost every other provider except for airtel.

So I pay for the connection on 25 Feb 2010 which was a thursday
Get the installation guy to install the Wimax antenna on 4 March 2010 Which was Thursday again that is to say they install it in a week

But the net is still not working they have to configure my Static IP from the backend which usually takes two days
so In my case the two days involved a Saturday which is Non Working day for reliance people. I call them up on Monday furiously asking them to commit to their service they come here on Tuesday that is 09 March Tuesday and i get my Static ip and voila its running

In the first few hours it worked like a 56K Modem giving speeds of 10KBps i was shocked at what they were giving for 1Mbps

but then in a few hour precisely three i start getting my Plan speeds

Average 108KBps Peaks 120KBps

I am using Reliance 1mbps unlimited plan and here are my results.

I have both. Wimax at home and Wired at office. I have 1.2 mbps unlimited in Wimax, which is new plan they have increased the speed from 1 to 1.2 for same amount i.e. 2199. My wired line is 1 mbps unlimited.

So, I think I am perfectly competent to answer your question. I am using Wimax since last about 1 year. First of all my personal experience and opinion is I am COMPLETELY satisfied with the same. No complaint whatsoever. Downtime in this 1 year was hardly 4-5 days. So far as download speed is concerned I was consistently getting 120 KBps in 1 mbps and now in 1.2 I get 150 KBps. You cannot ask for more. I am also very much satisfied with CC.

In wired 1 mbps I get speed of 110-115 KBps, which I feel is little lower than Wimax, but considering the price difference, 1499 for wired, you should not have any complaint. Wiredline I am using since last 15 days only so may not be able to say much about downtime, but so far no issue and I hope there should not be any.

I hope this meets your querry.

what are uploads in wimax and wireline?

also in wireline 1mbps rs.1499 plan,do you get 2mbps at night
