Tata Photon Plus blocking torrents and file sharing sites

Hey guys, could anyone inform me about the download speeds of Photon plus while using uTorrent.Whats the recommended upload speed for it ??Also do they start blocking or send notice if you download stuff from link-removed or link-removed :evil: ???

i do not think photon works that well with torrents.

i tried photon plus with utorrent, it worked well. they assign public IP to the laptop when connected, so utorrent didnt had any problem working, I got around 200KBps on a public torrent with around 500 peers

torrent,link-removed everything works fine with photon+...there is no problem. the download speed is 50kbps to 200 kbps generally in the range of 100-150 kbps...

True....i have got speeds beyond 300+ KBps on healthy private torrebnts, sometimes touching 350 KBps - but then it fluctuates bw 300 - 350 Kbps for almost any kind of downloads. this is also because i stay pretty close to one of the tata tower 🙂

does the data based plan indicates only download limit(1gb,10gb,15gb etc plan) or total data transfer (download+upload). I want to use torrent but afraid that they will include the uload also as RIM did with me last time

Yes, there is always a data limit per month and the excess data downloaded is charged per MB. Please have a look at something called Fair Usage Policy on TATA Indicom site. To be honest I hate data based plans. They are useless and do not allow me to download new Linux version worth 3-4 GB.

true,,I always prefer unlimited plan,but there is no other options other thn wireless internet in my current locality

on torrents average is 180 kbps for me, which goes upto 220 often, though m on roaming and not my place right now, where i live i hv tower pretty close to my place, will chk speed der n c..

great man !! i am getting upto 180 last time;although I keep upload speed to minimum at 1 to avoid the data transfer

Hey Guys, i've bought tata photon plus (prepaid) :wink: and i am having problem 🙁 that torrent (or any other client) isn't working under photon connection and hence, utorrent/bittorrent is not downloading anything. My photon is working properly :thumb: , can surf at gud speed :dance: (i.e. around 80kbps) but it doesn't allowing torrent to download via torrent file. :isorry😛LZ, help, somebody.Do i've to format my PC.? 🙁

I have been using photon plus in chennai for quite a while and since I live far outside city,photon plus is the only option,I use photon plus 120 hours per month plan and use the internet mainly in very early mornings when I get good speeds,

this is the speed I got at 4.40pm today afternoon which is decent but the problem is from today morning my speed with any torrent is as low as 8kBps average(kilobytes) same speed I am getting with hotfile premium and mediafire account as well,whereas speedtest and other servers like filesonic premium kept giving above 150-180kBps
even with 60 seeds with 10% leechers on private torrents I am getting 7-10kBPS where as I usually get 230kBps in early mornings ,now my question is why suddenly hotfile,mediafire and torrents are so low where as filesonic,fileserve etc are still ok?the speed difference is ust too much to digest,can anyone please tell me if it is an intentional block from tata?they refused though when I called th Cc😕

how can it be that only the servers I use often are giving the lowest speed and others that I do not need much are fine?????

please anyone facing similar issues?it is the second day and I am still stuck with torrents at 8kBps,hotfile mediafire at 8kBps but others at 175kBps 😕😕

can tata have so much intelligence to Throttle and block all the paid servers and private torrents that I use so that they get stuck at 13kBps????is it possible!

thanks for the link!but it shows NOISE but no major blockage 🙁

I have tried everything and now it is sure that it is TATA who is cheating and putting blockage in traffic,there is no other way by which only particular servers are blocked,from changing pcs to uninstalling all AV and firewalls I have done all,but the conn worked normally only twice in 4 days for half an hour each....just goes to show it is all in TATA's hands....all chennai users are warned that it can happen to you too...paying 1000 rs per month ,getting 1.5mbps on speedtest.net and ending up surfing only google for 120 hours a month.I am soon going to dump it and make sure all my 4-5 friends who are strugling in this area to dump it as well
