Just curious. How many (or long) power cuts you are getting nowadays?
[/b]
How odd is it that you asked this question...

Cos on Sunday, i had no power between 10am-7pm !!!!!!!!

This was due to water supply problems reaching the one of the hyrdo-stations that supply bangalore resulting in a shortfall of generated power.

We are told if it rains and there are no usage spikes then things will be better otherwise its will be forced load-shedding for the next month. This was more of a selective area cut cos other areas in BLR were fine.

This year started off relatively well, powercuts every cpl of days but no longer than a few mins each time to a max of a half hour.

The RS-1000 APC UPS i got is serving me well, tho sunday was bit too much. Airtel must have some big batteries in their exchanges cos for the 3hrs (modem+laptop only) that i got with the UPS the connection was still there.

Best part with this UPS is i get to shut off alarms between the hrs of 8pm-8am.

wow....you guys make us Mumbai guys feel so lucky...I really hope the govt. does something about this power problem! :/

This is one of the reasons that i'm hopeful that the power situation might improve. You see its already possible to do so in Mumbai, one of the biggest (is it the biggest?) cities in India.Tho might have to accept some compromises/risks to the environment, they are strictly non-nuclear in my state. Never mind that coal power is prolly the most polluting.

Only 2 Hrs power cut! 🙁

there is a lot of potential for hydroelectric power. Maharashtra alone can produce upto 75000MW ( yes, Seventy Five THOUSAND Mega WATTS ) of electricity using hydro-electric power plants alone. This was reported by a Japanese survey team. This is far more electricity than entire of Maharashtra and neighboring states need. But we need political will here people.....!

It's all in those figures. If said Japanese survey team comes from companies that will also be building said hydro stations then it would be in their best interest to give a *HUGE* number as to what is possible. If Maharashtrra can generate more power than it needs it may be possible to sell it to other states that require it. But this place isn't setup to do that sort of thing yet or at least not efficiently.

no no...that Japanese team was an NGO doing some god-knows-what research in India...

god-knows-why I get power intermittently.Present for 2 hours, off for a half hour then again present for 2 hrs, then power cut for half an hour....

The Power situation in Bangalore is absolutely intolerable now. We have 10 hour power cuts - during the day (8am to 6pm. What kind of work can anybody do during this time? The KPTCL and all the other Power mongers of Karnataka are slowly throttling the people of this state and pushing them back 50 years to a state full of farmers. This is apparently advantageous to the politicians who can control the downtrodden. What an amazing attitude. Our politicians, instead of giving their people a better standard of living, are actually pulling them back to old stone-age type living. We are in th 21st century and Karnataka is still living in the 20th century. The corruption in govenrment and self-serving political circles are literally killing off people - it is genocide masked as upliftment - similar to Adolf Hitler's policies against the Jews. In this case the Aam Admi is the Jew and the politicians are playing Hitler. God Bless us who are stuck in this situation. We the aam admi of india can only watch and suffer. We the people have absolutely no control on our lives. What a terrible state of affairs in India.Political will in India - especially Karnataka - has been replaced by Political motivation. The motivation for the politicians here is MONEY! MONEY! GREED! MORE MONEY! Terms such as Political Will - cannot be applied to Indian politicians - who so openly showed themselves off in the Lok Sabha - exchanging 1000 rupee bundles with scant respect for anybody present. What can you expect from the un-educated lot except comedy shows? God Bless the few politicians who are trying to keep the sanity of this country. The rest need to join the Nautanki groups.

hey boy are power cuts @ all areas in Bangalore? and like everyday??Coz I was planning to move here & stuff.

10 hrs!?!It's supposed to be 2 hrs/ day anytime between 6-10 (depending of course where you live), morning or/and evening. The prob is as it always was, a shortfall in hydro generation for which Bangalore relies on 60%.The worrying thing is that these cuts are happening during cool weather for the last cpl of months, so i don't want to think what would happen if it was much warmer 🙁

It's all in those figures.

If Maharashtrra can generate more power than it needs it may be possible to sell it to other states that require it. But this place isn't setup to do that sort of thing yet or at least not efficiently.

Erm.. will they sell it to North Indians, right?
