Strange!!! I think only BSNL cc can help you. Get the modem changed, I had some trouble with mine and I got it exchanged.

this is my 3rd modem in which i am having this strange problemThis is my 3rd modem in which i am getting this prob

First Of all please be more detailed about the modem.Furthermore be more specific about your location ie the place where you stay. The reason i ask your modem details is a fact that if its a BSNL modem, there is a good chance that it might be faulty. Afterall its all the chinese junk that gets dumped in India.Mention the following in special:Modem type and modelLan card(Inbuilt or external) Answer us these and we might be able to help.

@ LoneCrusaderI have BSNL 256 kbps HOME-500 planThe modem is MT880, type 1Lan card is internal and is Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

Well sir, honestly speaking i have to give your modem the benefit of doubt.Because i just cant point out the finger at it over the net,yet i would like to just point out the fact that High speed internet speeds put quite a load on the modem. Its always recommended to either go behind a powerful router or at least class 3 modem. But as i said above...i really am not sure of the problem and i really wouldnt want to screwup ur problem to more devastating extents.

MT880 even i had disconnection problems with that one. I think the modem is faulty. Do not go for another MT880 go for MT882 instead. I got my MT880 replaced by MT882. The guys in my exchange told me that people using MT880 were complaining the most about disconnection issues. btw MT880 is not a type 1 modem. Type one should also have a USB connectivity, MT880 does not. Another reason I got my modem replaced by MT882.

Then an hit and trial explanation of ur problem could be a case of faulty supply of modems to the BSNL in your area.Try talkin with another guy around your location who might be having a bsnl connection and their modem. If he is facing the same problem then its a fault at BSNL's end.If he is not, then i guess you have to talk to a professional.

I had the same problem with MT882 Raptor[/b]

All I can suggest now is to update your modem's firmware. Mine is of Jun 20 2005. If this option also does not work then call BSNL cc again and again till they correct your problem. Sorry dude cant help you further.

Dear,It seems that u ve a faulty AC power connection at home.Check all the power points in ur home especially 3 pins and check whether earth wires are properly grounded. If there is a leak in that there will be problem with dsl modem as u experience.U can turn off power to ur system and modem etc..from the main line and try working on UPS to see whether the modem goes off again.Ranjith Kumar A.K.

If you go for purchase new modem from BSNL , I suggest to go for UT 300 R2U.
