Okay, here is the one playing spoilsport (or Davils's Advocate)Generally I have seen good feedback about speed of BSNL/DataOne. Do you feel that BSNL will be able to sustain that level of sevice once people start maxing out their connections with heavy downloads...

thye managed very well during the first 6 months of the launch. they can still do it. the problem is how would they fund the costs of the bandwidth when thye have to buy it from other companies.

They have hordes and hordes or bandwidth. They can support a lot more than this 😉

if one colony has 10 heavy downloaders, a city would have thousands of them... we are talking abt a company which provide services in lots of cities not in patches like with sify/airtel... talk abt nationalising broadband connectivity for the first time in india.

Its only a 256k connection.....not a 4-5mbps connection 😉 I think they should be able to sustain it.Or they ought to be able to sustain it!!

I would like to make one point clear, If BSNL has announced unmilimted plans , not everybody will make a switch. Infact i would say 1 in every 10 person would shift that wouldnt atleast choke up the bandwidth

would you want to be a part of the 9 out of 10 people who should not signup for the unlimited package?

As far as now, the bandwidth is gooooooood... But I already thought of the same thing when they announced the UL plan. Hope they know what they are doing. I was hoping that they would just change the unlimited time from 2 am- 8 am to 10 pm - 8 am or something like that... But UNLIMITED is good when there is not much of users.

I they would be able to since 256k isnt that high speed.if they need more profit, they should have thier own intl b'width.

bsnl would definately be able to support.i will make a switch to 256k unlimted from bsnl.. can any one tell me what is the best speed that i would be expecting while uploadingthanks

As i know bsnl has 64kbps for the home 500and assuming same thing will come to UL plans, correct me if im wrong,so 8KBps at best case.

After a few glitches they might be able to sustain it! Might have some way to procure the bandwidth at the price below it. Trai could help bsnl to procure cheap bandwidth from vsnl. 🙂

Guys VSNL, Reliance and even BSNL has hordes of dedicated bandwidth. So no worries 😉

BSNL is a Govt. firm.....no matter how it costs of bandwidth...they arent bound with any costs to buy bandwidth from other companies!! this one is gr8 advantage of BSNL's BB!

incidentally, broadband is not bread, butter, kerosene or even LPG Gas. government actually has oil to worry about more than buying broadband to enable people to download crap from the internet. and government companies need to be profitable too. they don't run on charity.anyways. for our sake i hope they have thought about the consequences of giving away unlimited packages. airtel has managed it well by throttling speeds (upto in layman terms)... we will have to see about what BSNL do.
