Videocon d2h+ DTH Review

D2H was officially launched on 27th August in Delhi and I have been using the same from 1st September onwards and I must say that I am extremely impressed. I have used Dish TV,Tata Sky and Sun Direct before switching over to D2H and I have no hesitation in accepting that D2H is the best in terms of picture and sound quality. You will get almost all channels in Rs 275 only which by far is the cheapest in any DTH. They have currenty 6 Channels for Movie on Demand which they will start shortly but you have access to them. They also have 3 Active services and they are working seamleassly however, these servicesa are still under testing before being finally launched. Remote control is very trendy and extremely user friendly. Except National Geographic and Cartoon Network, you'll get dual audio in all other channels where this facility is available. Picture Quality is AWESOME and Very Sharp. electronic program guide is very comprehensive and gives you correct details of program being transmitted. This i beleive is the only DTH in which you insert the smart card from the rear side of the box which avoids any accidental mishandling of the card if you have kids at home. All sports channels are available. However, few Channels like Zee Sports,Real,Z Cafe, Zee Telegu, Zee Kannada are currenly reflecting WHITE screen only but after the testing is over, they will work fine. D2H STB is very trendy looking and on Remote, you'll find Blue Reflection under the OKAY button which looks very ggod in the night. Their Mosaic feature where you'll get 12 channels on the screen is very good and you'll have the option of seeing all 12 channels working instead of only one where your option is selected. The only drawback I see currently that the channel change time is slightly longer. Also, they have two Active Games but they are good for nothing. Tickers is something very unique and interesting application in D2H wherin, you'll have the option of selecting the topic of your choice across entertainment, bollywood, news, sports etc and have them scroll below the channel you selected. The OSD is okay but once you adjust the transparency level, it really looks good...All, I hope is thst they should not increase the price of Diamond Pack. Friends, if you are planning to switch over to some other DTH then dont even think twice and move on to D2H. Please ask me anything about D2H and I would be happy to answer that but kindly do not ask me to post pictures.....

hi friend.first i use dish tv dth for two year.one time i pay my payment two time.but dish tv said they received only 1 payment.then i decide to shut down.after that i use big tv.now my tv packege expire in dec.now i decide to think videocon dth.what u advise me ?

dear friend.i want to change only because big tv is very expensive.4000 for 12 months without ndtv india and ndtv imegeing.what can u advise me.i don,t know what is the cost for all channels in big tv now.

1) Audio - Is the Audio in Stereo and which Channels? (Stereo with audible channel seperation), you know what i mean...

Hi guys am plannig to take new d2h connection and am planning to take 1 year diamond pack for 2900. RS my doubts are1:this 2900 rs including installation and harware charges right..?2:is there any chances that because of pay channel price hikes , some channel may drop out from the list..? [eg: during fifa wc espn and star sports planning to increase their charges ]

I can't understand this part,what is this mean ? Is the sound come from only one side of the TV-Speaker ?

If so why NGO & CNET have mono broadcast instead of stereo sound ?

^^ No not like that. Dual audio/multiple audio means you get multiple options among language to be selected for a channel. English/Hindi or others.About you second question, may be Big TV. But that depends on the mother tongue (channels you want may not be available in base pack)

Hello members, i just got my Videocon D2H a day before, what i am worried for is that whether Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Animal Planet, FOX History & Travel and Living are in Hindi or English?????????? My set top box has not been installed yet, please reply me as soon as possible, i want these channels in Hindi only!!!!!!! Your help will allow me to return this to the dealer prior to installation!!!!! The installation-guy is coming today (18th of August, 2010). I assume, this is very commom feature to select the audio language in these channels. Big TV at least have this feature. You can ask installation guys before installation.Do post your review in full after installation and experience. And,why didnt you waited for HD DVR from D2H, as its being launched within a month??

Thanks for the help, actually we are having 14" TV of LG at home & we are satisfied with it. Also, i don't think that there would be any change in the picture & sound quality even if i get HD DVR or HD satellite of any other company as my TV is a normal one. But within 3 years i am going to buy an LCD HD TV as soon as i get my first job, at that time i will get it changed or exchanged, depending on the company's policies that time!!!!!!

Hello Everybody, This forum has help me a lot. And so I am writting my review for D2H DVR Finally I bought HD DVR on 11th May morning. At evening 07:00pm their man came. But on looking at HD-DVR they informed that they have brought dish for normal setup box and it will not get installed. Ok, happens..... On 12th May their man came at afternoon around 02:00om, installed the HD-DVR replaced my old dish and placed new big dish. They also activated 136+tax package on it within minutes. BUT MAIN THING FOR WHICH I EXCHANGED MY STB , FOR RECORDING, IS NOT WORKING. It is giving error like " STARTING FAILED: E101-29:NOT AUTHORIZED TO ACCESS HD-DVR SERVICE" He informed me that it will get activated in 24 hours. But I smelled that he is trying to escape from his responsibility. Soon he left I called CC and there she informed that recording facility should get activated instantly. And they will send engineer. I am fan of videocon, and if electronic item of videocon is available I don't go for other company. Firstly, their after sales service is excellent, and secondly I prefer to purchase items from Indian company rather then foreign company. But in this case my experince is little bit different. On phone they are saying there is problem and they will send technician and it should get activated instantly. But their technician is saying total different thing. He is saying it will get activated from company automatically. I am sandwitched between both of them. Lets see when I will get solution to my problem. 24 hours are passed yet not acivated. Also their remote is 3rd class. The man who came to install , was able to activate only volume increase butoon on universal remote. He informed that there is problem with my TV and other function will not get activated and I have to use both remote. BUT EARLIER I WAS USING VIDEOCON NORMAL SETTOPBOX AND IN THAT UNIVERSAL REMOTE WAS ACTIVE WITH ALL FUNCTION. So this is the 2nd problem he tried to escape. Normally, videocon technian do not do this type of escape. I am using other appliances also. After he went , I tried to active other key on remote, and I was successfull in ON/OFF button, which he was not. But still I can only do ON/OFF and volume increase. Other button likes volume decrease, mute, TV/AV are not working at all Remote of old STB was very good. big switch, even old person like my mom and dad were able to use it very confirtably. But this remote is very much conjusted. Too many switches and too small. My parents cant use it without specks or without difficulties. Also switches are hard. Dont know remote is new thats why or it is a problem. Also, 2nd problem is that, while switching on TV , HD-DVR gets switch on automatically, THATS VERY GOOD, but most of the time it does not get switch on automatically. There is 100% some problem with HD-DVR and remote. 3rd problem is that on site they informed that we can record for 200 hours. I earlier post here that can we increase this through external memory or not, and I got reply no. BUT I AM SHOCKED THAT IN TV UNDER SETTING THEY SHOWS ONLY 71 HOURS. AND IN THEIR MANUAL ITSELF IT IS WRITTEN THAT RECORDING CAN BE DONE FOR MAXIMUM OF100 HOURS IS NORMAL VIDEO AND 30-35 HOURS IN 30-35 HD VIDEO.THOSE WHO PURCHASED CAN REFER THEN FAQS IN MAUAL. WHY SUCH MISGUIDING. ON WEBSITE SOMETHING ELSE, AND ON MANUAL SOMETHING ELSE AND ON TV UNDER SETTING SOMETHING ELSE. There is 100% some problem with my DVR . But it seems that they will not provide solution easily or change it easily I have read some case here, that they got relief/solution after 20-30 days under D2H DVR and 50-100 phone calls. But it my case, only 2 days are passed, lets see when I get solution.
