MTNL unlimted plan ad in Times Of India

Today i saw an adv. of MTNL (delhi) Triband unlimited data download for 1399/- per month in the Times of India(page7). Its mentioned that modem rental of 80/- extra. Also it says offer valid till 30th April. This plan is aplicable ony for personal use and not for commercial use. I am not sure if this plan is only for MTNL Delhi or also for Mumbai. The website is not yet showing the unlimited plan. If MTNL has introduced unlimited plan than it won't take long for BSNL to come up with a similar one.MTNL users plz clarify if such a plan has been introduced 🤔
 
Guys he's right. check out the epaper edition of delhi. 🙂 Hopefully it comes here soon as well. tho its a bit costly in 6 months it shud be down to good levels. 256kbps unlimited at 400-500rs. may not remain a dream in the very near future.P.S. scanned todays mumbai TOI edition and no ad there yet.
 
Same ad is in hindustan times page-5. If u go to site http://www.bol.net.in In right side there is written about this plan without any link. Costly thing from sasta operator. :angry:
By the way do u know that in NZ(new zealand) a connection with minimum 2Mbps speed is considered broadband .Offering connection below that speed is not allowed(only dial up could offer below this).
Hope in india also below 256kbps(our broadband standard) is not allowed.
 
1399 + Rs 80 Modem rental + Rs.99 Minimum landline charges + 10.2 % ST = Rs1739/-Too costly for 256 Kbps unltd. Airtel gives same plan for 999/- ...basically MTNL is exploiting the customers coz it knows its nearest competitor doesnt provide connectivity everywhere in Delhi.First they come out with such an expensive plan with paltry speeds and top of that they make it promotional, valid for only 1 month and only on trial basis..wtf..when will they start treating broadband as a necessity rather than a luxury ? :angry:
 
@cyberwiz it say that the 'Plan offer' is valid till 30-4-2006. It doesnt say this PLAN is valid for 1 month. I don't think this means that this plan will only be valid for one month. I think it means that u can opt for this plan or change ur existing plan till 30'th April. It doesn't make sense for them to introduce unlimited plan only for 14 days.

Come on, you can't calculate like that..... Aren't you paying for the landline anyways?? And you are already paying 80 rs. rental also.....

Just calc. the difference of what you are paying and what you will have to pay, and see if it is worth it for you....
 
Dude1399 is more than double of wat we pay for nu - the rent of router n taxso its is expensive.it sud not be double atleast.

U didnt get wat i meant..i meant that they make things so exclusive..if they they hv introduced unltd plan why the hell make signing up for it limited to one month only??? Its high time they introduced permanent cheap unltd plans..

wats wrong in that?..fact is unltd plan from MTNL costs 1739 if u take modem from them and 1650 if u dont.. thats more than 60% costly than Airtel..might be justified for u..not for me

Even if its feasible for me..i dont think it would be for the average indian family
 
ok...this is the first step I guess. I think Airtel is coming up in a big way in Mumbai and MTNL has now finally gotten spooked. With Airtel we all know what kind of media Blitzkrieg they can do 😀 AFAIK Airtel has put in Fibre Ops on almost all roads and have brought the fibre upto all the buildings. Now its just a matter of wiring up individual buildings. When that happens almost every household will have a Airtel connection in our area. It fits well with Airtel's strategy. I hope to see the prices falling and broadband wars starting soon by August this year. Keep your fingers crossed! 😀
 
The only realistic possibility of there being a broadband price war in the near future is if Reliance wakes up from its slumber and jumps into the fray in a big way. With TATA expanding quickly too they are losing out on a lot of potential customers. Coz unlike their monsoon hungama blitzkreig incase of mobile telephony which was a big disaster anyway they'll find it difficult to grab market share here coz it ain't a stand a-lone product and only ppl with computers can be targetted. So unless they start giving free computers with their connections or go around persuading ppl to buy comps they can kiss the braodband sector goodbye.
 
At last it launches Mtnl Unlimited plan ....lol Cost is high am pretty sure it will come down!!!Does this service is available in mumbai!!????MAn i will be the first person to Grab it ,If yes!!!!!!

The problem of cable guys still remain, new ISPs are just not allowed to enter new areas without actually giving them a cut.
So unless the cable tv culture (monopoly) doesn't go i don't see the new ISPs spreading that fast.
