another new service started by google......... 😱

^ it is by Google . thats it !

Wouldn't it be great to be able to keep track of all the events in your life, coordinate schedules with friends and family, and find new things to do -- all with one online calendar? We thought so, too.  ....  .... [/b]

the guys at G are quite the weirdos......their next service will probably offer to do our dishes....

hmm, Google Dishes sounds like a great service to me!

Anyway, here's a video that talks more about what it's all about. (The woman in the video is not the most camera friendly person I have seen, but it's a tad informative).

Basically this thing would be awesome if and when a lot of people and organizations especially would start using them. e.g. if your college / school / office started posting calendars, then their events would appear on your calendar along with say other calendars you may have subscribed to like say a cricket calendar which shows all the matches that are being played every day..... pretty cool way to keep in touch with a whole lot of stuff, but contingent on google calendar spreading to that level of becoming mainstream.... very do-able but much more so in the states, than here....

i am planning to organise my beer meets through this... meetup was complicated and crappy method of doing that.

now days google is getting into all kinds of crap they should instead concentrate on developing their search engine which made them famousgoogle calendar, google talk, google pack.........what next ???..........google TV

so what exactly is the problem with Google developing more and more free services?!?!?

Hell, I love them for making Picasa free... what an awesome program! And as everyday passes, I lean more and more towards making gmail my primary e-mail account - the conversations view is just fantastic.

what is wrong with their search engine?

there isnt anything wrong with their seach engine.......its the BESTi think that they should keep improving it to keep it the besti was talking about some of the other services offered by google.in their rivalry with yahoo they are trying to become more of a portal instead of a search engine.look at what happened to altavistait was a great search engine but trying to offer many more services than just searching led to their downfall

you are forgetting a simple fact. not many companies can survive being a single product company. i would be worried if other companies can come up with a better search engine than google. in the last 3-4 years they have not.and google is developing products which are better than companies providing those products for like decades. gmail was one such example and google calendar has become a shiny new example.if you have ever tried using msn calendar or yahoo calendar you would realise how good google calendar is. and the main aim of developing these services is to extend what they already have, an amazing search engine technology. calendar becomes a part of the larger range of google services which would make us depend more on their websites.this would mean we spend more time on their websites, thus making more revenues for them in the longer run... money is important... and google does know that they are primarily a search engine company. but to stay competitive in today's online world... you have to continue innovating and they are doing just that!

google the search engine has no competetion instead it should compete with itself. im more intrested in the search engine provided by google. it should keep on improving on the search facilitieseg. local searchits my point of view.........i may be wrong
